I still build most my rigs from the ground up with a mish mash of parts from different manufacturers. Shit its 2019 and I just now built a "kit" wraith from parts that I've gathered over the last year or more. I have also only bought a scx10 chassis last year to expedite a few builds that have been taking a long time for me. I think x number of reiterations are good, because the masses are not keen to "building" rigs anymore. Now it's all rtr, or a kit, and most customize them anyways, so half the parts get swapped out! It would be nice for someone to come out with a 6x6 or 8x8 kit that is not in the capo, etc price range of 4 digit $
Yeah, I remember using drill gear boxes and mix matching parts from street cars, Traxxas, TLTs, Nikkos, etc to build something but we are in the minority. Lots of new people getting into the hobby for the first time and they are buying RTRs for the most part.

I do not really expect Axial to come out with an entirely new scaler platform for a while. They seem to use the successful platforms for many years. They could at least upgrade a few parts from the factory to be on par with their competitors.

We upgrade most parts on Axials because we pretty much have to. That makes it harder for some of us to justify buying an Axial when you think about how much more you are going to have to spend to get it to the quality of a stock TRX-4, Ascender, or even Redcat at this point. I know it is rare that I recommend an Axial to a newbie for that very reason. MUCH more bang for your buck with other manufacturers.

Yeah we used to have chokes on our car and no anti-lock brakes as well! Not sure why people (not you) hold onto the past as an excuse to forgive the shortcomings of the current stuff.

The part in bold I agree with 100%

I just realized Horizon seems to be killing all of the Axial kits except the SCX10 II. Since they have taken over the Bomber and Yeti kits have been killed, but they have released the Raw Builder's Kit and this Chunimog. SCX10 II kits must sell a whole lot more than the rest or something...

I think you can tell from our very own classifieds that 1.9 scaler market is booming and the 2.2 based rigs are on the downswing. You can see further evidence of that in the cancellation of 2.2 based rigs, and the evolution of the wraith into a 1.9 scaler.

Yeah, 2.2s are not very common around here. 1.9 is FAR more popular.

Thanks jato.

I was hoping for a few rail changes. But im not disappointed.

This kit should be the hottest thing since the first tf2!
This "mog" only needs a couple of changes to be C1 ready. I'm ditching my yota for one of these. I'm a sucker for sub 12 inch wheelbase rigs.

Went to my LHS to get some paint to finish up my TRX4 Sport Kit. I couldn't help myself...came away with a pre-order receipt for the UMG10, because kit...

You went to your LHS to preorder the UMG10 which, by the way, does NOT stand for Unimog and picked up paint as a side mission.

Close...

No, I really did go to the LHS to get paint to finish up the TRX4 Sport kit (quickest way to get paint).

The UMG10 was definitely a planned side-mission though. Had to wait for them to enter it into the computer to be purchased.

Why is it priced lower than the Cherokee kit? Looks like it’s got better stuff.

Might be the Jeep licensing.

My take on it...

I love caged back-halfs and new tires.

Otherwise, Meh (with a capital M!).

I do love Unimogs but this ain't one - I could deal with swapping in an aftermarket grille & headlights, but there are other things off about the body.

The worst thing about someone releasing "nearly-there" bodies is that it tends to prevent others from releasing more accurate ones in the future.

I felt that way about the Pro-line FJ40... and now I add this sorta-Moggie to the list.

If it was accurate, it'd be worth throwing SSD portals underneath and building it up - but as it is now, I could see picking up the tires and maybe the cage for something else.
