Default What chassis do I use?

So I’m building a scale version of my Jeep TJ and I’m not sure what chassis would be my best choice. I’m looking at either the SCX 10 2 or the RC4WD Gelande 2. Which would be the better choice to build off of I can adjust the wheelbase of the New Bright TJ bodies I have I just want the most scale option that works as good as it looks. I am fully aware that either chassis will require a ton of fabrication to work but what’s the best starting point?

Take you time with painting., sand well and let paint cure. I rushed and had to redo

Do you have any straight on side shots? I’m curious how you accommodated the extra wheelbase

I was helping my cousin build one of those New Bright TJs until he bought a ATV and now has no money.

We went with an Axial chassis because it needed to be cut down to fit under the TJ body and if we screwed up, a SCX10 chassis is cheap to replace. Also we were planning on brazing/welding shock mounts, panhard mount, servo mount, trans relocation mount, etc. and the steel Axial chassis makes that much easier than the aluminum RC4WD chassis.

Good point. Although the Gelande 2 is the correct wheelbase already. That’s what has me thinking of going that route but the axial is half the price.

Hey there.., Sorry for the novel

I went Axial because of function over form.., I still wanted a performer. Last event I went with some of the smaller tires with a short wheel base... I could still compete
So I just shortened the 4 links and moved the trans and shock towers etc
Here’s one of my vids., there are more under that channel..

https://youtu.be/QlSXeOaChI0

But I also butchered my body...
Here’s a few shots

Here’s what I should have done in rear.., what worked for my lc70

Thanks that helps. The thing I like about the G2 is that the motor and trans is front mounted which will give more room for the body to sit low without hacking the body floor boards up. But it appears that the SCXII is a great performer

This is my favorite TJ build, I took lots of inspiration from it.
