As in trains, there are scaled rulers that measure in scale to reflect 1>1. Not seeing this in the RC world, and many having calipers capable of mm readings. I wounder if 1/10 scale could be readily converted to 1>1, as in 1ft would be 10mm. TOL (thinking out loud), what say you? Does not need to be dead nuts, just a close proximity of the measurement. As of now as far as I can tell it is all eyeball. pep |

1/10 scale means... 1cm equals 10cm 1" equals 10" If you divide 12" by 1cm, you won't get 10mm. There are 3 common wheelbase manufacturers use and we have come accustomed to so things get murky around trying to get bodies to fit etc. For example a 4.19 is the scale version of a 42" tire, quite large tire but if you went a 3.00" or 3.3" tire, you'd be dragging your 1/10 scale dif all over the damn place. |

Scale in RC specifically trucks & crawlers is very rarely accurate or consistent. Most things sold as 1/10 are closer to somewhere between 1/9 and 1/8, then as mentioned is the issue of bodies being stretched or widened to fit popular chassis wheelbases and throwing things off scale. For those reasons I worry less about what's scale accurate as far as numbers and focus on the ol calibrated eyeball Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

For me it more about having a usable reference to scratch build, get a base line for the general proportions. As in the interior, not concerned in regards to allowances made by manufactures. To have a working up and running model, not a rivet counter as they say. I believe this is the answer that will work for what I'm after. 1cm equals 10cm ?? 1" equals 10" Close enough, thanks all for the responses. pep Last edited by JacktheRipper; 12-28-2019 at 11:57 AM. |
