Question JJRC Q60 noob battery question

I've looked over the forums to try to find an answer but I cant find anything on JJRC Q60 battery upgrades. I'm running Flysky GT5. Receiver Input power: 4.0-8.4V DC. Also the cheap brushed 30Amp esc and the billet t-case 370 motor combo. We only get about 10 min of run time with a 1500mah 6v battery. Even if we have to relocate the battery to the bed will be fine with that. What I want to know is, what's the strongest longest run time battery for this application? Can I run 2s or 3s? I have to keep the price in consideration.

I don’t know much about those wpl style trucks, but 10 minutes is an awfully short run time for 1500mah. Check to make sure there is no binding in any of the driveline part. I don’t know if those models are susceptible to it as well, but making sure the wheel mounting screws aren’t over tightened Is a good place to start.

Keep in mind I’m new here too.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check it out. I do know in a tight pinch the front tires do drag. But that's only now and then.

Electricity is about watts. Watts = Volts x amps. A 6v will eat up amps to get the needed power compared to a 7.2v 2s Lipo battery. The more watts you need the quicker you drain a battery. 2s LiPos are actually 8.4V at full charge so it uses a lot less amps at full charge. The Flysky receiver should be LiPo capable so Id switch to small Lipo. If you switch to a LiPo make sure you switch your receiver to LiPo mode or you will kill your battery on the first run. You shouldn't need a monster battery to get decent run times. I have a 2000 in my old 1:18 Mini Quake which draws a lot more amps for speed and lasts plenty long. I wouldn't even consider a 3s in those China trucks, it would likely start breaking everything in it. But you could also just have a bad battery pack. My suggestion would be to try a lipo that fits in the same 1500-2k range. They can be found quite reasonably priced. I really like the turnigy nanotech batteries on hobbyking. You of course will need to change connectors. Here is one for only $11.75

Thanks for your response. Lol I threw caution to the wind when I wasn't getting much info and gambled. This is what I got (over kill). I bought a charger -Hitec RDX2 Mini AC Multi Charger (4S/5A/50W) I wanted to be able to charge to batteries at the same time and float them as needed.
For the batteries Goldbat
Configuration: 2S1P
Voltage(V): 7.4V
Capacity(mAh): 5200mAh
Discharge(C): 80C
Net Weight: 293g/10.34oz
Dimension: 138 x 45 x 25 mm(0 - 5mm difference)
Connector Type: Deans Plug
Balancer Connector Type: JST-XHR
Certificate:CE,ROHS,MSDS,UN38.3
So I'm not sure how I did but I went off my limited knowledge. What do you think?
