Default dumb questions

I have a MN90 that I've modded:

https://youtu.be/MmFheiEfTpE

Tires: Looking around for upgrade tires that aren't the usual banggood stuff but maybe I don't know where to look? I know I can fit WPL tread on here but specs seem rather limited. Using the MN rims restricts me to the stepped diameter thing -small on the outside, and larger on the inside. I might be able to get some rims 3d printed and fit "normal tires" but hopefully there is something off the shelf. Options?

Controllers: I don't know much about them I'm afraid, but I know that I don't like having a dozen of them around in a box with one dedicated to each truck. I know with the Flysky I can maybe bind like 10 vehicles to the controller. Does this mean that I need a specific Flysky or other brand receiver for each?. I think so but I'm not sure.

First post, cool forum. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info n tons of awesome people here.

Ive got the flysky gt5 n love it. It can bind up to 20 rx. It uses the fs-bs6 rx, which has a gyro (can be turned off). But the ones ive found are bout $20 each. But, i did some searchin n u can use the fs-ia4 n ia6 rx with the gt5 tx n theyre between $12-$18 each.

Flysky aslo has the gt3 thats pretty popular. I think alot of people do a upgrade to get more than 3ch on it though. Spektrum n futaba are high end radios.

As for the tire question, im not so sure. Wat size are your wheels? 2.2/3.0 ir smaller than that? Proline makes a 2.2/3.0 tire for the slash i believe.

Hope that helps, even in the slightest lol

cool, thx for the feedback. i think i've got the radio questions under control

re: tires, the inside diameter where the rim mounts are two different sizes.

OD is 78mm, width is 32mm. 28.5mm for the outer rim diameter, and 40mm for the inner.

what the heck size tire would this be?

Thats where the 2.2/3.0 size comes in to play. If u change your mm to inches. The traxxas slash runs 2.2/3.0 tires. The outside bead is 2.2 n the inside bead is 3.0. Hope that explains it a bit better

Here's what an 1/12 (1/14 really,) MN D90 comes with:

OD. = 78 mm/3.07"
WIDTH. = 32 mm/1.259"
INNER BEAD DIA. = 40 mm/1.574"
OUTER BEAD DIA. = 28.5mm/1.122"

Not seeing how a 2.2/3.0 would work. Your typical 2.2 has an OD of over 5" and the Slash is a 1/10 scale truck

1.55 inch is a common tire size ...look at rcmart or amain hobbies
Here all scalers use Rock beast or Mickey Thomson

Good tires make all the difference

clearly, but finding ones to fit an MN or a WPL is a pita. 1.55"s are still to big for these things. 1.0" and 1.2" are too small.

what tires are you using for MN and WPL?

that's ok. i've seen Donald's work. those tires are stock WPL, MN, and JJRC pieces of various durometers. i have most of those except the JJRC NDT's which i don't need.

there's one guy:

who's using rc4wd rock crushers on his B24 with printed wheels. i might go this route.

Any updates on the quest for tires?

For rims, the WPL and MN wheels are interchangeable with a common 5mm hex hub.
As far as I know, the WPL rims are symmetrical on both sides so I would go that route
and eliminate that oddball (MN) from the equation.

I have both the WPL V4 tire and wheel combo, with foams and the aftermarket 'generic' 70mm 10-spoke beadlock tires/wheels seen here:

Both are very good wheels to fit the WPL and MN90 trucks but the edge goes to the generic beadlocks [real beadlock rims] as that is a very soft, sticky, pliable tire.
Here's a halfway decent review...

the yeti jr uses a 1.2 /1.55 tire and rim but ive had a vary hard time finding those
but heres the thing there are adaptors for just about every size to any size
what i would do is find some decent 1.55 wheels and a 5mm to 12mm adaptor
with the 12mm adaptor you can run just about any wheel and tire combo you want and there are some realy good 1.55 tire options out there
i did this with my d-12 based midnight pumpkin drift truck my d-12 is running 1.0 wheels with a 2.5 tall tire on 7mm hexes
