Default My custom WPL.

Hello!

A couple of years back, a friend of mine talked about buying an RC.
We talked about it for a while, and ended up with a WPL C24 each.
I got the KM version right away and broke the steering servo within a few minutes of my first drive outside...
So thats were my hunt for improvements started.

One of the biggest problems with the car I would say is the crappy suspension, so I tried my own cantilever suspension, many versions of it.

But eventually I decided to build one more, with the goal of being the best performer i could create myself. So I ordered one more KM-kit but this time I did the chassi rails myself.

And I decided to go with cantilever both front and rear.

While it was great for articulation, there was to much friction in the suspension, so the car would not go back to its neutral position after going over a bump. So I decided to buy some Losi Mini-T shocks in the end. And it really transformed the suspension! The best investment so far!
Since I wanted the car to perform, I had to get some 1.2 Brick tires from RC4WD and change the sluggish motor to a tamiya torque tuned with a 1:36 gearreduction. And the tires lead to me trying to shape plastic with a heatgun for the first time. I was a bit aggressive, in hind sight. But decided to paint the body anyway, as practice. And this is what it looks like now!

I actually just finished putting one of these kits together last night, mostly got it for nostalgic reasons, as i ran a 1:1 81 yota for years! Cool little kit for the money, but ya lots of room for improvement in the suspension and steering dept!
Good job with your build!

Thanks for the compliments on my build!

I also have an axle mounted servo btw, done in a way I havent seen online yet, ill get a pic of that as well soon.

Does anyone here know of any better options when it comes to transmissions?
The one I have is good for groundclearance, but the motor collides with the drive shaft when the front suspension is compressed.
There fore it doesnt really do it if you want to make it more of a low CG crawler.

What servo are you using for the steering? Im assuming the stock servo wont last long, and would like to get a replacement ordered up. Also planning on going soa

Im using a Corally CS 3007, it can take at least 2s, might even handle 3s, but im not sure. In the older one im using a Savöx SW-0250MG, and it seems to handle 2s fine, so far.
If you need a good ESC, have a look at Modellbau AS12/15RW BEC EASY, its quite smooth.
