Hmmm..... Lets do some simple math here. Lets say 3/4 of the people that signed the first petition were actually willing to pay, I don't know, lets say $600 for one. That's $450,000.00 Now lets consider that after Tamiya's advertising blitz, since MOST of the general public has no idea these even existed, I think it is safe to say that the overall revenue from a re-release of the Bruiser/Mountaneer could easily gross over 1 million dollars for 1 car. Not bad if you ask me. Also, with modern production methods, I would think that the initial investment on Tamiya's part to get this made would be substantially less than it was way back then. Netting them a larger profit margin today.

Only problem is, it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to tool up a entirely new truck, which is what we are talking about since all the old molds are destroyed... Even though it's not a new design, it would all have to be drawn in CAD, and then machines would have to be tooled for it. That in itself is a HUGE investment.

That's why it would make more sense on their part to make a Hi-Lift Bruiser instead. Which honestly, I wouldn't have a huge problem with, but I don't like the Hi-Lift running gear that much.

Thanks, I would have never figured that out on my own.

If it cost $200,000 to make, what does that leave out of $1mil + ?

lets not forget about all the profits tamiya is making from other re-releases where they still have the molds. plus, so what if they spend 200,000, they make a couple of mil, then they already have everything to do another re-release a few years down the road, ie, the mountaineer. so they might break even the first run but the re-re-release will be all profit.

Or they spend $600,000 tooling up, make a $900,000 return....

Let's not forget running that equipment, and raw materials costs money, packaging, printing, distribution.

Now you have $1million invested, and a $900,000 return... MAYBE....

Why take the gamble, when they already have a Hi-Lift that makes tons of money....

Besides, they have the TLT and it makes money, they still discontinued that. So there has to be more going on then just money...

But I agree, I would LOVE a Bruiser of my own without paying $2000. And a new one that I could get parts for easily, AWESOME.

I just gotta be honest with the facts, and it looks like they would be more likely to release a bruiser with Hi-Lift running gear.

Sorry to rain on the parade. But I am still all for a re-release of the bruiser, and I agree, it would probably make a profit and do really well. But we gotta convince Tamiya of that.
