Default Black Widow Axles - MiniMill has been busy

I picked up a set of Black Widow axles from TheSaundo (thx!!) without mounts or truss'.
Then found out it was $70 for the lower link mounts
Upper link mount doesn't exist.

I thought of brazing up some stainless, but these axles are so beautiful and angular I wanted to stay with the angles versus tubes.
Then thought about milling some delrin, but silver would look better.
Landed on some milling some alum.

My mini mill takes a long time with what carbide and high speed steel bits I have.

So far I have the rear truss and lower link mounts completed.
Lower link/shock mounts slide over axle tubes and pinch clamp in place.
Truss has two screws into beefy pumpkin and one down through the pinch clamp , into the axle tubes (anti rotation).
Truss has slot for third link, with a panhard mount out at the end.

The Black Widow axles allow for:
  • moving the short tube/long tube on either side
  • turning the ring and pinion around (spin opp. direction)
  • clocking or not clocking the axle

pics so far...............

My Sherline mill is purely manual and not schooled in millwork, so some dims and angles are off a little.
Angles are eyeball aligned when clamped

Looks awesome, your milling work looks great also, can't wait to see the final assembly running on the trails

Those were a set of axles I sold to him and honestly I wish I would have kept them instead of the set that had factory mounts..believe me the rc4wd mounts have much to be desired especially the top mount.. The other set I kept was a real pain to get mounted up on a 3 link panhard setup and no matter how I set them up the panhard bar mount(upper mount) bottoms out on the ball link. Your ahead of the game machining your own
