Since I had today off and was at the hardware store anyway, I picked up some material to build a trailer to tow the rock buggy around. I started with 8 feet of 3/8" x 1/2" aluminum channel. I built a rectangle with it measuring 12" x 18". Then I made tongue/ floor support. Next was some mounts to mount the wheels. It will be a tandem axle trailer with a small box up front axle straps. I'm still looking for material for a floor, I did find some D rings to strap the buggy down. I do need to get some wheels & tires before mounting the axles. Then I'll take some 1/4"x 1/4" square bar and drill one end then place inside the channel used for the tongue and bolt it down. as for the floor I'd like some 1/16" thick aluminum with either some holes or expanded metal. I may also use some diamond plate but that's my last choice because the size of the diamonds will not look scale at all. if anyone has any suggestions for tires & wheels and floor material post up.

Your killing us with the lack of eye candy!!! I am sure it will be awesome. You might have to refresh my mind with which rock buggy is going on it. |

You could just use wood for the deck, that is what most car haulers have. You could get thin balsa, etc. from your LHS to make it out of. There is also styrene that has the diamond plate print.

Your trailer is very nice. Did you buy your trailer hitch or did you make it ?

Wow someone dusted this old thread off. The axles are just 4mm bolts on this one. Though I've since made another trailer and I used some 2wd front stub axles and welded them into a piece of 1/4" steel tubing. It's working very well. Here's a pic of the latest towing setup ![]() |

Really like that Jeep on the trailer. If the photo was cropped just right and not paying much attention it would look like the really thing lol
