| Fine torch me if you want
Has anyone used a HPI defender 90 body on a scale truck. I asked in Paint and body and got grief from a Newb. I searched the two forums 1.9 and 2.2 and didn't see the number I was expecting. I may have missed it but I know people swear by HPI plastic if it isn't a hardbody, and I know Landys are super popular. I just was wondering why this lexan body doesn't Rival the Bronco and Rubicon body.

| This is driving me crazy
I KNOW THERE AER A FEW OUT THERE. I was more asking why the body was not as popular as others, but instead people are just looking to ask about how I searched. I know some nice ones have been built but the number verses the Bronco and Rubicon is huge.

Landy's just are not that popular over here, mainly becuase they are so rare in real life.... but I still prefer a good Jeep. |

| Fair enough
Ok that was pretty much what I was looking for, and that answer makes sense. I was thinking with the RCC being such a global thing now that it would be a more common build from guys in areas that a 68-77 bronco was never shipped to. Jeeps on the other hand well jeeps are pretty universal.

| I am going to try to be nice to Newbies from now on
Part of the torch problem I think is the difference in terms. I didn't search using D90 as a keyword. The common Newbie may not search with that designation they would used HPI defender 90 body, because that is what they see on HPI's web site. I agree that the threads about a wheely king verses a AX10 should stop but I am going to try to be more understanding.

| Well thanks to anyone who posted
I guess my question is Lame or whatever but I still think a 3 to alot ratio was interesting. Smoking I reworded the question. Like I said I think that some search issues are just a matter of having used the search, and knowing more then one term for your Keyword. I would have never thought of D90, as I am not a Landy/Range rover guy. I am a ford guy and able to search easily for anything ford I am wondering about. I am a 25 year old ASE certified mechanic no less. A 15 year old kid doesn't stand a chance.

| Depending on geographical location you might see more in some areas than others. I have seen only one real one in Arizona. But gain, Ford, Jeep and Chevy are local brands and far more popular thus seeing so many more.

No, they are sold world wide - The Defender is the name of the model of the Range Rover. The Defender 90 is like a trim level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Defender |

I thought that might be a reason guys overseas that post on here are building F350s and Clods or Broncos and Jeeps (American Icons) instead of something they can see around them. But I know Tamiya and HPI are both in Japan and they are addicted to our culture and they also are a worldwide company.

Land rovers are like Hummers. Land rovers are never rigs that you see totally lifted up with huge tires. Bronco's blazers and jeeps are. When people think big lifted rock crawler land rover is about the last thing to come to mind.

Some people would rather build a Chevy,or a Yota instead of a D90 as a matter of personal preference. Quote:
That may also another reason. IMHO most 2.2 tires look goofy under an D90, 666's K2 is an exception though. | ||

| good points
I suppose you all are right. I have just seen alot of LR3s and older land builds by some pretty established guys and thought that the Defender was a modern version of those, not a expensive Ford rehash of the escape but I suppose half the cool factor of those builds is that they are OLD. I do appreciate that this thread turned around and people gave genuine opinions. Thanks all.
