There's that one molding kit, um, Alumicast, maybe? Not all that expensive and looks pretty easy to use. Probably be fun and help for stuff later to cast. *EDIT* http://www.alumilite.com/ Last edited by Thorsteenster; 12-20-2007 at 09:33 AM. |

i have no problems, paying you for them as your work is killer, and i could never match them. i support MANY vendors here and abroad, just ask. they'll back me up. two things though *i ENJOY making things, i enjoy building MORE than i do the actuall crawling. its how i am, ive always had the most fun with a tool in my hand. * id like to be done with the entire truck build in 7-10 days, with shipping and holidays i dont see how we can meet that. storm, what do you think would be the best way? by stacking and glueing C shaped peices and sanding to final shape? or making it in two pieces, ie the top/outer part of the flare, and then the inside that bridges the gap between the new flare and the old wheel well? ie a hallow structure? I would make a rough set from pink foam, cover them in a good layer of PVA, make a 2 part rubber mold, cast some roughs, finish out the roughs with filler, make a master mold, make a set and be done. Thats how I have made one off parts for table top wargame miniatures.

I think the pink foam is what Microgoat uses for his custom bodies. You can get it at home depot but you have to buy it in big sheets.

They have it in various thicknesses at Home Depot... like .25" up to 2.5" around there.

Yeah, after seeing the magic Stu makes with foam, I'm itching to try something myself.

I am not trying to keep anyone from making their own flares. Please do! I certainly did not invent them, and I do not have a patent on scale ones. I just sell a few (don't worry not through RCC though!) to buy parts to support my interest in this hobby. I did not mean to imply that no one should make their own parts, thats what makes this hobby interesting. |
