Top Truck Challenge

As some of you know, Rockpayne and I are tossing around the idea of doing a top truck challenge at his place. No rules, No specs, Nothing. We will do timed runs for everyone like a real top truck challenge and see who has the best combined time at the end of the day for bragging rights. Depending on how big this gets we might have a prize for the winner. Just an idea for now. Whos in?

I hope it happens this go around. I don't think i would be a participant but i would most certainly be there to take pictures and witness all the awesomeness!

You should come play! we werent going to do any water, just some sloppy mud about axle depth to give it some sloppyness. Its definitely going to be more technical than most rc TTC's, but i plan on having some "watch this shit" moments "thumbsup"

TODBLDZ 01-17-2011 09:31 PM

i like the sound of this. the location close to atlanta?

nice rig by the way "thumbsup" i should have my scaler at the SCRCC 1st comp.

Monstergt 01-17-2011 10:04 PM

Hell yes. Murphy isn't far from my house. Colby I got a crew cab hilux being sent out tomorrow:mrgreen:

GaBronco 01-18-2011 08:36 AM

Murphy is a beautiful place. If it is in Murphy i will most certainly be there! I havent been since they shutdown all the good trails at Tellico. Before that i would go at least twice a year.

That sounds like a great idea but i will need more details before I can say if I can be there. When are you thinking about having the comp?

Colby 01-19-2011 05:58 PM

Sometime in April. I was hoping around the spring break weather, may even get pushed into may. When it gets a little closer i will post one thread in the comp section just like the scale safari "thumbsup"

Butcherinhd 01-19-2011 08:55 PM

Exactly how scale are we talking here? I have a Honcho with few mods . But iam new to the scale comp deal and would be in if my rig qualifies.

This would be a great chance to get out and meet some guys and to test your truck out. It will be a good time and not uptight. I have seen the course and I will be running my honcho through it. This is as much as a get together as it is a comp. I just do it for fun. I suggest you come and hang out."thumbsup"

Butcherinhd 01-20-2011 05:40 PM

Just give me some directions and a date and i will be there , but only if it is fesable for me to drive there. I live in north west ga in cattoosa county and gas at 3 bucks a gallon got to cut trips short ya know what i mean?
Other than that iam stoked want to go and hope i can.

Colby 01-20-2011 08:25 PM

As I said, there will be no rules. There wont be any penalties unless you break. We will do all the courses on time and distance, kind of like a hill climb is scored, which we will have. Im thinking if you have to reverse on a course, going in reverse on a course isnt forward progression and your just hurting yourself. The only thing im concerned with is having different classes. Run 2.2 and 1.9 classes to be fair, and lets have a ball.

Rusty may have a different idea, but as far as im concerned, run rear steer, run a 4 cell, or run all of the above with front and rear dig. I dont give a rat, and think it would be cool to see "thumbsup"

Thats what I am saying Colby"thumbsup"

JDeezie82 01-24-2011 07:05 AM

Definitely up for a good get together. Hardly anyone around here. Been trying to find people to run with but no luck yet. Keep us posted on this."thumbsup"

GaBronco 01-24-2011 08:12 AM

TWO classes is a great idea. Would you be okay with the same truck running in both classes with a wheel and tire swap?

really lookin forward to bringin my rig up there, keep us up to date let us know more. thanks,
jesse.

The way I was looking at this is, it will be the first event I have held here other than a few gtg type things. I was thinking to make the 1.9 class just a kinda entry level thing, 1.9 wheels, no rear steer, and a 13.5" wheelbase max. That being said, the courses for 1.9 will be tough but not like the 2.2 class. I was thinking that the 2.2 class would be a run what you brung unlimited kinda thing, only rule will be that it has to be shaft driven to even be in TTC (in both classes of course)other than that run it, and as Colby said, time and distance more than comp scoring (finishing the course in the time frame allowed). We might even split this into two events, one at Colby's in April or May, and one at my house in June (don't worry, it is usually cooler at my house then because of tree cover, you cannot see my house in Google Earth pics:lmao:)

Good to see another 15 year old in the hobby, who is local too"thumbsup".

As for the TTC, depending on when it is held I may have my hilux built by then. If not I will just bring the summit to screw around with lol"thumbsup". NC is kinda "far" for my grandfather to. He will prob give in though:mrgreen:

Lushtrucker 02-02-2011 08:37 AM

ECC is in april, I think it should be in a different month.

OK i have to build one of these. Where do I start?

Colby 02-28-2011 02:22 PM

Haha, you buy a stock SCX10 chassis, then you make some scaled drawings of what you want with the tires and chassis your using, choose your body and weld up the cage. I have a build thread in the 1.9 scale section.

Guys, the TTC is still ON as far as I know. If Rusty isnt up for having it at his house, or think it will be a little more work than hes up for, I have everything we need already built at my house. I just have to know how many are comming, and will ask if some of you can carpool if possible. As soon as I finish my tank trap and my frame twister Ill post some pictures. Now most TTC's in the RC world are built from flat ground, my tank trap, and my mud pit are almost all natural in an actual canyon, just have to carve out the knarley course thats going to be tested by my xr10

Grimreeper 03-03-2011 09:28 AM

i think i can fit two 3s packs on my berg. maybe the 6s will give me enough wheel speed to compete.

GaBronco 03-03-2011 05:37 PM

no moa rigs in a TTC...

GaBronco 03-27-2011 02:16 PM

Colby, whats up?!

Colby 03-29-2011 02:58 PM

Sorry guys! I still want to do this! My comp truck likes breaking gears, and I decided to get a new 1:1 so my heads been wrapped up in all that, and school for the past couple of weeks. Next week is my spring break... Anyone want to get together at my place and run/go through some ideas on courses and have this thing in the summer time?

LR3 03-29-2011 05:21 PM

I would be down to have a GTG sometime during spring break. Even one up here at sawnee mountain. great spot"thumbsup". I just hope that the parts that I have ordered for my new JK get here before next week. Not sure how well it would do in a TTC, but it will defiently kick ass at sawnee:ror::flipoff:
