Default Tire foam? Why?

Just wanted to know why run foam in your tires? In my stock axial wheels with stock tires I have no foam. The bead locks keep air in and the tires keep their shape. They seem to conform to the terrain well like this. Its like a real rig with low tire pressure. I dont know much about crawling as I just got into this so forgive me if this is a stupid ? or its been answered before.

Running without foam in your tires will let the tire roll under itself when side hilling and turning, I learned my lesson at my first comp as I was running moabs with no foam the tire roll cost me 2 gates. Foams are ran to help keep the form of the tire.

What he said ^^^

Also with air filled tires the tires bounce. You'll notice it on tough climbs as the traction is lost. The truck with bounce and hop, just like a basketball. Foams dampen this issue.

Default Bouncy tires

Foams are the backbone to a rockcrawler tire. It allows the tire to conform to the rock, not just fold over and be worthless.
Memory foams noticably stops bounce. Bounce is detrimental when trying to make steep inclines.
Memory foams works great in Rock Racing.
But if airtight tires work for you, go with it.

Good Luck.

I think nearly everyone has tried the air tire action. I remeber that the bouncing and folding over was the big issues.

I know that some folks like it in faster rcs because when you spin them they scream like real tires. We do rock races at our comps and I've been thinking that some airtight tires would be fun.

But for crawling... I would put some air holes in the rims and run memory foam.

I run air tight with kreepy's & losi's. No bounce, just bite.

I just mounted a set of ProLine Hammers with memory foam inserts on my new Comp DP wheels. The foam inserts make a real difference. Thanks guys for all you input.
