Big Island Yeti Driving?

I'm going to be on the big island for a week in early January, and I'd love to get in some driving with my Axial Yeti. Are there any good places to drive that are at least "mostly legal"? I'm sure there is a tone of good terrain all over the place but am I allowed to just go drive on it or are there certain places I should go. I'm going to be on the Kona side so I would to stay around there, other than that I would like to avoid any VERY wet driving. My Yeti is water resistant-ish so it can handle some moisture/dampness but any submersion and I would have problems. Thanks in advance for your help! :D

Re: Big Island Yeti Driving?

Any beach, park or shoreline on the Big Island is open game for R/C's, just be mindful of other beachgoers. I'm not super familiar with Kona side but Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area is a good spot with lots of open space and trails. The only places that would be off-limits are the historical and forest reserves which are usually enclosed and well marked.

I'm on the Hilo side but if you're up for a road trip, I've been wanting to take my Wraith up to the top of Saddle Road, about 30-40 minutes from Kona and halfway to Hilo. My wife has a Yeti that can come along as well. PM me if you're interested and we'll set something up. "thumbsup"

We ended up getting some driving time in the old airport area and it was really fun. Certainly a lot different than what our yetis see at home, thanks for the help!
