Dirty brushes? I'm definitely not an expert on them or anything, but that's just odd because when I switched the arms between the two motors, the problem followed the arm and didn't stay with the brushes, hood, can, or magnets. I switched back and forth several times and the problem followed the armature. I dunno, I guess I'll give it another try, thanks for looking at it. Let me know if I owe you anything for shipping or whatever.

Just got the motors in, putting them on the site.

I sent you an email travis, I found the problem with a multimeter. After cleaning it up it was still running wrong.

I asked this over in the handwound thread but didn’t get a reply so I’ll try here. I got a 500 puller on 3s in my ax10 (It blew the r2d and now steel axil trans with 92t spur/9t pinon) and am plenty happy with it (tons of wheelspeed + power with the gearing). I’m building a MOA with hot racing axles/dual fxrs/lipo 3/ccbec/Hitec 7955/zero 4.0/rovers/3pk…. for the local comps and was thinking of getting another 500 for them and maybe a 10 turn or even brushless for the shafty, but it seems everyone is high on your 35/45 torquemaster (and jp's). What really are the pros/cons each way? I like the small size/less $ of the 500 ( Is the gearing low enough? Is it too long? Does the mounting plate hold up to moa pounding?) but if it's really not the way to go I don't want to do it twice. I have a tekin 45tand novak 45t mismatch in it for now (maybe that’s more than I really need for my driving skills/attention span but hey HP/WS is never a bad thing) Thanks

The 454 pullers have a bit more wheelspeed than a 35t, but will bind down more under load as compared to a larger motor. The small can size also makes them overheat more from smaller surface area to dissipate heat. I used them in comps on a berg and they were great. Run a 10t 48p pinion on your hot racing axles.

The 500 is a bit longer, stronger, and equal speed of a 35t, but is a few MM longer than your typical 540. LInks may have to be adjusted.

A 540 is bigger and will run cooler, and is capable of more power.

Cobalt is even bigger with more power, great brushed motor.

Brushless runs coolest of all (no brushes making heat), so they have the best power to weight ratio. Soon enough I will have special brushless motors made for crawling, a few months away.

I just wish I could fit a pair of 7t pullers in this rig without having to redesign stuff.

Well I'm ready to step up from my POS Tekin 55T and, I was thinking of going to a 45T. I just want more (off the line punch) and I have not knowen any one who has one of these motors.
I was thinking of getting this ( http://www.rcplanet.com/45T_Rock_Cra...p/tri16310.htm ) There is about a $20 something $ diff and I was just wondering if I would see a $20 diff in them. I run a 16T gear and a 3c lipo in a SWX.
My buddies are telling me to get a 35T but, am not sure I want to go that high seeing I'm still running stock drive shafts. I'm pretty happy with my 55T just need more punch.
So what do you think?
John I would love to hear what you have to say. I know you wont feed me some BS.

The epic motors are great. You will be getting strong magnets and a machine wound armature. My motors have the same grade of magnets (or stronger, not sure if that epic is grade 6 or 9) but are hand wound for higher power. The handwinding is the $20 difference for the most part.

Sounds like a 45t is your best bet at any rate.

When you speak of "more power" is it at highend, lowend or, Just all over power.
When I do get some MIP drive shafts I will be gettting a 35t. Yours will deaf be the one I get.
Will it be to much power for the plastic trany gears? Right now the way I have been thinking is there is always going to be weak link and the drive shafts are just easyer to swap out in the middle of a comp. Having to change trany gears would be a pian in the A$$.

You should step up to a 25T like me, if you are a real wheelspeed junky

That's 12,600 more rpms at the motor than the 35T on 3cell lipo
