A soldering iron would be better than the gun style with little heat wire. I solder to mine with an 80w with hammerhead tip, but if you leave the heat on them too long it can make them vent. I recommend no more than one second of contact time to each end of the cell.

Yes, your charger will work. I generally charge at about 3 amps, but you can pump up to 10a into these cells. I am not sure what heat wire you are referring to. |

Ok thanks! As for the heat wire i guess its just a typo, your post #41 1st sentence. What should you use to join the batteries, bars or like 12awg wire?

oh oh. The "gun" style soldering devices use a wire as an element, whereas a typical iron heats up a tip that holds a lot more heat. 12awg or bars work. I prefer bars because they are more solid, but really it doesn't matter. |

Hi John, How many of these, (if you'd recommend over LIPO's), for an MMM + 2200KV? Thanks. |

I would run 6s2p at least. 12 cells total, two stick packs.

Thanks for the quick reply. Am I right to say that these packs will be wider/longer than the regular NIMH stick pack? If 2 sticks won't fit, will 6 cells work? Thanks!

Yes they will. You are putting the 2200 motor in your tuber? Do you know the top speed? A stick pack is roughly 205x55x26mm. LIpo is certaly smaller for the same watt/hour, but a123 is safer and easy to fast charge. |

| Yes 2200 on the tuber. Want to find out how fast this can go. May be able to fit 6-8 cells max (unless I take out the seat and driver) as the cell seem to be quite thick. Anyway, will 6 cells in series work ot just go along with 2 x 3s 30C TP Extreme Lipos that I got? Thanks again.

They are just the 2250's. These are the 30C's that does 135A burst. Actually tried the Tamiya a123's and they are pretty decent for 1/10's. Can imagine your a123 be significantly powerful.

If you are geared low enough the lipo would be powerful enough. You could use some punch control to keep the amp draw down. You are going to find the handling limits of the vehicle, and structural integrity limits before you hit the limits of the motor setup. You could use a much smaller motor IMO.

Hey John, I dont have any Sub C batteries anymore and cant seem to find anything around here with a C or D size battery to measure/compare to get a visual of what size these are, could you compare their size to a household C or D battery or even a Sub C. thanks |

I have none of them here actually. It is larger in diameter than a sub-c, and longer. The measurements of the cell are on my site.
