Just ran the BR-XL last comp for the first time. Seemed great.. I did have the Shudder issue, but my Holmes Hold and Drag brake are 100%...

I know this isn't an ESC issue, but is there any reason why a front motor seems to have less power then the rear? I've checked, brushes, gear mesh and all the bolts on the case for any binds. The Rear seems to engage first as well.

This past weekend at Midwest, I beat the hell outta my crawler on the finals course, I worked my motors harder than I've ever worked em before and I had a glitch that lasted a few seconds. I had finished gate 4 and working my way to 5 and after several attempts up a crazy vertical climb, my truck shut down. It lasted about 6 or 7 seconds, I had no throttle, no reverse, NOTHING. after a bit everything came back on and worked fine again. But then the next day messing around at another comp spot nearby, I had it happen again, but I was not being hard on it at all.

Just curious if this has happened to anyone else??
They will shut down when overheated, and can be damaged too. I recommend no more than 170f for them.

But what about dual motors ?
I have mine in an emaxx based 1:6 scaler right now and was wondering if i could run dual Kershaw Designs 650s motors on 2s lipo.

Thanks.
It is more of a gearing limit than a motor limit. Keep the heat below my recommended 170f and you will be fine. If you are geared slow there is little chance you would overheat them.

Try turning the drag down to 50% to get rid of the shudder, then you can bump it up slowly to see how much your motors will take.

Has your front motor overheated? I have had this issue before too. Could be a timing issue as well. In your position I would probably just swap the motors front to back and see what happens.

Just put in my new ESC. Everything is working great! The only question I have is I seem to have lost rear drag brake when I am in front dig. Is this a software problem? I saw on mine I have the new Beta software. Should I download the V1.02 software? I even switched motors to see if that was the problem. My motors are also HH. Mine has the same shuddering issue when I have Holmes Hold turned on.

Any advise?

It works as a castle link, but not as a stand alone field programmer. My ESCs don't use a standard "mamba" or "sidewinder" compatible firmware.

I would update it to the latest firmware. Don't turn up the drag brake past 50% if you are having shuddering problems with the hold. The upcoming firmware release will hopefully fix the shuddering.

How is your dig actuated?

It probably won't make the next firmware release, it is taking a lot more work to fit the throttle profiles on the chipset than expected. It is still on slate though, and is the number 1 feature being worked on.

Pardon for asking, Is there an Update for increased Drag brake ? I ask because my Version 3 DIG switch would have the ESC plug into it and just as you reach near neutral it would apply a awesome drag brake. but the unit does not work like that and Punkrc is sending a replacement that probably be the standard version.

Thanks

the drag brake cannot be increased any more. If you need more drag than 100%, turn on the hold.

John, I just have to say. AWESOME Product!! I have one of your first batch esc's and love it. I have not even plugged it into a castle link since I got it. I loved the settings it came with!!

At a recent comp, I was pulling Turtle on PW for like 20- 30 mins. 55t motors, 4cell lipo, full throttle the whole time. Motor bunt the shit out of my hand but the BRXL was not even warm. Clicky for the video

Last weekend at the scale comp, 45t and 6cell lipo. About an hour later, motor is up in smoke and the BRXL not even warm.

Great job and now I need money for 3 more to replace my other ESC's

The motor was shimmed wrong.. I just pulled it and replaced it. Fixed my issues. Holmes brake on and Drag is at 100%... Working perfect now. Ran it for 45min had no Shutter at all....

I just bough one of these from a buddy of mine and I believe it's from your 1st run (It's new in package no sticker or anything). So if I normally run a 3-cell lipo, and plug in a 4-cell, it will automatically set the cut off to 13 volts or so? If so, that's great! Before I install this ESC what should I do to make sure it's updated? I do have all the Castle links so that's not a problem. Also John, is this basically what you use for the waterproofing?

http://www.drillspot.com/products/44...tting_Compound

Are you waterproofing them with the cases on now, I thought I saw that you were doing it without the cases on for the first batch. Thanks, Tim.
