30t HH pro handwound... I originally had the BR-XL on my comp rig with the 30t, then moved the ESC over to my scaler so I used my Sidewinder 1/10 ESC.. Didn't use the scaler much so I moved the BR-XL back over to my comp rig.. When I went to set it up with the Castle Link there was an update to the firmware so I loaded it up and then setup the ESC.. Comp'd with it this weekend and noticed the sudden surge so I've been playing around with it at home.. Didn't really think about the firmware change til yeterday. That's why I posted.. I have another post up in the tech questions thread.. Going to backrev the firmware this morning..

You couple guys with the throttle jump, did you read posts #327 and #330?

Might help.

(Update to 1.06, go back to 1.05, then go back to 1.06, or maybe now 1.07)

I'm on it too, thanks for catching it (and bringing it to my attentions) guys.

Is 1.07 out? I have the surge but don't want to reload until 1.07. Is there a way to check what versions are available without plugging in the esc?

1.07 isn't officially released yet, we will probably skip it and go to 1.08 with a different throttle curve.

Yeah. Short story. I was using 1.05. You released 1.06 for some reason, I updated and noticed the surge. I went back to 1.05 and then later read 1.05 had Lipo cutoff issues, so I went back to 1.06 and it was smooth.

Just a note. If you comp anywhere where there is water, even tiny puddles. Make sure you get the waterproof version.

Smoked an Torquemaster this past weekend at Battlegrounds when my crawler got a little tiny splash of water in the wrong spot. Instantly started SMOKING!!! Dammit!

Just won this ESC in Montana- thanks John!! Very generous donation!

I'm thinking of trying (2) 11.1v 2200 Lipos in series to it, and wondered how it'd like a 700 size brushed motor, such as the Traxxas 775 or a Kershaw 700 with 22.2 volts.

Thoughts?

Holmes Hold...

looking for suggestions on safe holmes drag brake for my 2.2 berg with dual BR-XLS - I'm running phantom 35T's on 3s...

I was previously just running passive drag and just changes to 100% passive front and 50% active in rear...

Is it safe to go higher in rear - don't want to smoke a motor Are folks just doing 100% active.

Cheers

Larger motors- just watch the heat on the ESC. Keep it under 160f and you are safe. Should be no problem with just one motor. Two large motors will need more careful monitoring, depending on wind and voltage.

35t handwound on 3s- 50% active is about as high as I would push them. If you hear it buzzing when you are sitting still, it is a bit too strong. I'm running 100% active on 6s with my 55t motors and it is a bit too strong.

Thanks at 50% now - Will leave it at that. Stationary it doesn't seem to hum unless you try to force it to turn over...

I have a BR-XL and love it. Only thing is that the motor starts up quicker than I want even with the new firmware.

Example....my MM or Sidewinders can start slow enough that the motor will make moise before it even starts to move. I can turn the drag brake off and with slight throttle you can get it to hold still on an incline.

Now the BR seems to jump right to 2% throttle. Try the same test on an incline(drag brake off) and it will roll down until I give it a hair of throttle then it starts out quicker than I would like, enough to try and climb the inclinr instead of just sitting there.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried reprogramming the throttle endpoints to the radio?

Yes, tried that a couple times. I will try again today though and make damn sure it is not operator error.

The throttle operations should be the same between the ESCs. They all use the same basic framework. If you can't get it to work we can try a hot swap.
