The TorqueMaster BR-XL is a whole new ESC for crawling. It has been designed from the ground up to meet what crawlers demand. 5 amp on board switchmode BEC delivers steadfast servo power at any input voltage. Huge 80 amp continuous rating. Programmable features include Lipo cutoff and adjustable Drag Brakes, a must for any crawler. Most impressive is the 6s lipo maximum input voltage, giving even the most power hungry drivers what they want.

I have a small amount of these here, but I am waiting on stickers to be done. If you want me to put them up on the site and ship the stickers later, I can do this.

The firmware update to work with Castle link will be a few more weeks out.

So far none of my testers have gotten them to blow up. 6s on a stock emaxx was the hardest it was pushed, it hit 215F but didn't thermal. I recommend a max temp of 170f for longest ESC life.

Got me one coming, can't wait!!! Stickers can wait.

Nice to see these in production John.

Quick questions...

The bullet inputs are 4mm correct?

Will the firmware/Castle compatability be a download or would the ESC need to be sent in?

Is the low end throttle as smooth as say a Mamba Max or Sidewinder?

Thanks!

are these the esc's you had at the last capen gtg?

JohnRobHolmes 09-22-2009 07:47 PM

Yep, same ESC.

4mm inputs. I forgot to put in the mating male plugs in today's orders, but will be including them in future orders.

When you get the new Castle firmware, it will recognize my ESC and you will have full control from there. I made sure that future Link updates would also include any updates that I may put into the ESC. I recognize that Castle is ahead of the pack when it comes to this, so I made a deal with them to have use of their software. Super easy for you.

Low end throttle is buttery smooth, more steps than most radios can give even. Once Linkable you can control features such brake, drag, hold, reverse, and others; plus I will have more crawler/scaler specific options in the future.

What is the default BEC output voltage? Can the BEC output voltage be changed via the Castle Link? Im feeling a little power hungry and may need to order one real soon.

Killer...thank you sir "thumbsup"

BEC is set to 6v. There wasn't enough room to put a variable regulator inside. My brushless ESC will have variable BEC output however.

landon4 09-22-2009 08:09 PM

So you don't have to run a seperate bec with this esc I take it?

JohnRobHolmes 09-22-2009 08:11 PM

Correct, unless you have BIG servo requirements. Supers will be the most likely vehicles needing another BEC. But, since most supers run two ESCs they still may not need an external BEC when using these.

landon4 09-22-2009 08:15 PM

Sweet I'll just have a Hitec 5955 with 2 45t's and a punk dig switch on a Berg.

microgoat 09-22-2009 08:16 PM

In, thanks for the chance!

We'll see if I can blow one of these up "thumbsup"

JohnRobHolmes 09-22-2009 08:19 PM

I doubt you will be able to unless you purposly aim to fry one. My locals keep frying motors. A 9t handwound was no match. 19t motors were no match. Looks like dual motors on an emaxx sized truck are the closest bully for these.

KBrog 09-22-2009 08:48 PM

Will you have a give away for one these baby's???? I gotta have one.

Tanis 09-22-2009 09:16 PM

You guys are gonna love these, beat on them with confidence"thumbsup"

Grizzly4x4 09-22-2009 09:24 PM

This ESC is going to be awesome John.!!! I can't wait till mine gets here for Peanut the Rock Racer and you know Guido will have one. "thumbsup"
No external BEC means one less thing to hide in a scaler. "thumbsup"

Great work JRH.

Reflection 09-22-2009 09:30 PM

Can't wait to get mine......guess the 3 cells are gonna get pushed aside now.

chip cross 09-22-2009 09:55 PM

I can't wait to get mine. Thanks for the work that you have put into these John. "thumbsup"

I forgot to mention there is no on/off switch. You plug it in, it is on. I hate switches, always getting in the way and making extra mess.
