Cobalt puller 454 and 500, last run

Just got a shipment in of the Cobalt Puller 454 and 500 series. This will be the last run of them, so when inventory is done that is all for the smaller brushed Cobalt motors. I am in process of getting the KV of the various winds and will put the data on my site when I get done.

These motors are great for lightweight rigs!

EeePee 04-23-2010 01:38 PM

Very good! I need a replacement for my fried 500.

So, what's the chance you have just an arm for that?

4xFord 04-23-2010 02:15 PM

What turn where the old batch? 14?

I have a 14 turn 454 here (says the sticker), and I think my 500 is a 13 (no sticker)?

JohnRobHolmes 04-23-2010 02:32 PM

I think both were 14t motors, I just got the slowest ones I could find. I have the KVs up now.

4xFord 04-23-2010 02:42 PM

Hey JRH I just emailed you about the order I placed last night.
Thanks.

BiggaH 04-23-2010 06:03 PM

ordered

I ordered 2 mini cobalt 13 turns from ya today and might seem silly but if u include any xtra Holmes stickers (prefer the un weeded one to use as a mask) in my order I will proudly represent your company name. order is under Steven Andrews ty

So will we still be able to get replacement parts for these motors after the current inventory has run out? I am really considering getting one but if it will not have any support after this run I will look at some other options. Thanks --Mike

JohnRobHolmes 05-12-2010 06:06 AM

The 454 and 500 will not have parts available once these are gone.

stewbaru 07-14-2010 11:10 PM

Sorry John, but what about the brushes for the 500's, can we still get these?

You're motors are awesome, mine are barely run in, but I know I'll wear one out sooner or later.

JohnRobHolmes 07-15-2010 07:20 AM

Thanks for the reminder, I still need to order some up. Getting brushes should be no problems.

Rock Logic 07-21-2010 09:27 PM

hey john its lars did you by chance find any 14t small pullers?

JohnRobHolmes 07-22-2010 07:53 AM

I have some armatures on my way so I can custom wind them. Looks like I may have 3x 14t arms left here however, I will PM you when I double check the remaining orders to be sure they aren't spoken for.

Motor suggestions

Which of your motors would you say would work well on the new lite weight bullys?I'll be running 3s MM or 4s and your esc.I like lots of wheel speed and torque.

lifted_xj 07-27-2010 07:47 AM

any 500s left?

The 454 motors will be a better fit, but it looks like I may be down to mostly 11 and 12t versions. They don't really like 3s or more, too much voltage. I am getting some armatures for the 454's so that I can pattern wind slower motors. Sorry I didn't get back to you, I do have a few tech threads and I miss posts here and there.

I should have a few, the website is always up to date on inventory.

Mini 07-27-2010 01:29 PM

Will you be making something diffrent to replace these motors, or something better?

Seeing as how popular they are why would you remove them?

So if the website says out of stock am guessing there are no more 14t correct?

JohnRobHolmes 07-27-2010 01:35 PM

Correct, inventory on my site is accurate.

I have 150 some odd cans left, and am working on the replacment for them. Hopefully I can use the same armatures. In the mean time, I will be offering pattern wound arms in about two weeks.

If I can't get a very close replacement going I will likely pursue a brushless motor as the replacement. This is a very odd sized brushed motor to get produced again. The biggest issue is finding the armature laminations, second biggest issue is the brush hood. Same for the full size puller.

Offroader5 07-27-2010 02:07 PM

Hey John...quick question.

How can you tell the difference between the 454 & 500? I have 3 of this size and I could have swore I bought the first pair as 454's and then I just picked up a 500 from ya this go around. All three of the them have the "400" sticker on them...and looking at your site, the dimensions for both are the same.

BTW...like the new steel motor plates vs. the older aluminum ones "thumbsup"

JohnRobHolmes 07-28-2010 08:14 AM

The 500 is blue. Possibly I sent the wrong one to you, or maybe you actually got a 454? Got the invoice number?

Ahh, ok. Think I got the wrong one then. I did order a 500 but I must have gotten a 454 cuz it's black. I'll have to get ya the invoice number when I get home this afternoon.

FYI, I've already soldered bullets onto the one ya sent me :)....but I have yet to use it.

Offroader5 07-28-2010 05:47 PM

Order number was 5273. Just let me know how ya want to go about a swap :)

I will hit you up in the morning with an email. If you don't see it around noon send one to me please.

Offroader5 08-09-2010 07:53 PM

Got the motor on Friday, sent the other back your way on Saturday. Thanks John "thumbsup"

Highlucks 11-17-2010 09:42 PM

If stock holdings are correct I just bought the last one:cry:

JohnRobHolmes 11-18-2010 07:22 AM

I have about 100 more 454's here. 500's are gone.

luke-o 11-19-2010 09:58 PM

how would a 454 hold up in a 9-10lb 2.2 scaler with about a 65:1 gear ratio

JohnRobHolmes 11-20-2010 02:32 PM

Geared that low, you should be fine. You just won't have as much power as a 540 size motor, but you will drop some weight.

sally1800 01-04-2011 11:14 AM

John

I see these 16 turn puller will they be ok on 3s and what gearing do you recomend?

PANIC 01-04-2011 12:09 PM

John,

Interested to get a 454 puller for my gatekeeper ax10. But everyting is out of stock. Only one available is 11t? is it too much ?

X3, also how many do you have left? I'd like to get some for a new build and would like to see how much I should hurry!

Kieren

JohnRobHolmes 01-06-2011 10:09 PM

The 16t on 2s or 3s works very well. I have 100 some odd cans here, 50 armatures being "factory" wound to 16t, and about 40 blank arms that I am winding up here to 16t.

Aussie Nerd 01-07-2011 12:12 AM

Would you recommend slotting on the 16t's? That would be in a Al/Ti fighter build.

Thanks"thumbsup"
Kieren

JohnRobHolmes 01-07-2011 08:32 AM

Yeah, I like them slotted.

Aussie Nerd 01-07-2011 05:46 PM

Ok I might have to pick up some slotted 16t's soon.

Thanks for your help"thumbsup"
Kieren

Aussie Nerd 01-08-2011 02:14 AM

Is it just me or have you only got 11t's listed in stock on your website?

Thanks"thumbsup"
Kieren

JohnRobHolmes 01-08-2011 08:14 AM

I sold off ten of the 16t. Once I get them built and shipped I will refresh the inventory and offer 10 more.
