So I got my smashed pair of br mini's just before the new year and finally got to installing them. Hooked them up to the castle link and programed them to my liking. Gave them a look over an noticed the one chip on the bottom esc looks like it has melted a little or something but figure since someone is doing the smash job that they bench test them after anyways so should be fine. Went ahead and installed them in my rig and powered them up. Front esc works perfect rear does nothing but get hot with 30 sec of being hooked up. Double checked all my wiring and setting and everything appears to be right. I have smashed fxr's and micro sidewinder with no issues. I buy a set smashed and one doesn't work. So I pulled them from my rig to have a closer look (not that you can see much from the way Holmes smashes them) and notice the one large chip on the bottom appears to be melted even more now.

Now heres the real catch. When I bought these I got no receipt from Holmes or shipping notice all I have is a paypal invoice. With living in Canada and shipping back for warranty and the the return shipping I'm basically paying for new one. Do I bother to warranty it or just buy a new one and go from there?

Please advise John as I would like to use these!

Any pics of how this "mini stacker" is used?

***eidt*** seeing as how this pic became much larger and easily viewable (as compared to the HH site) I guess it's much easier to figure out.

I've got a pair of stacked minis with only one set of battery leads. Can I calibrate these one by one? Remove one from the receiver at a time?

Thanks in advance.

Todd

I saw the next post said one at a time. That makes sense.
But can anyone help clarify the note? How is the rx powered to do a cal if you have no battery and no red rx wire plugged into it?? I am sure I am interpreting something wrong. Thanks.
Is the cal process: plug in battery, plug in one esc, do cal, switch....?

I did plug in one ESC, plug in battery, calibrate. Then unplug it all and to the other. Worked fine for me.

that is correct, be sure to undo 1 red wire before plugging both back into rx.

I got everything working today. I still don't understand the note in HH manual.
I calibrated one esc at a time using battery power and one rx plug with all wires (no BEC yet). That did the trick on getting fwd and rev with all my settings.
Installled BEC and pulled both red wires, since I don't plan on making any further adjustments.
Things working now, but I gotta say, between the 4pl programming and the wiring I wrestled with it for two days.

I struggled with it too. Posted in different RC blogs to get answers. Finally got mine going with combination of all the help I received.

I tried to send you a PM but could not.

Am having the exact same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Some motors can't be tuned to remove vibrations in hold mode. Swap motors and see if the problem follows the motor or ESC.

I read somewhere that there may be an issue with H-Hold. I believe JH said there was a glitch in the sw. I got the same chatter, bad sound coming from motors. So I hooked up castle link and selected passive brake and set it 100%. This did the trick. No chatter and brake works well.

Yes, the original firmware had a glitch. I will double check our last batch to make sure they all got the new firmware loaded.

I have a question for you fellas that are more knowledgable than myself.

I have a scale build going on and I'm super tight on available room. A decased BRXL won't do it for me. I was looking to get one of these Mini's but I want to make sure I'm heading down the right road.

Will there be a problem with longer run times that we scale guys do?. I understand that it requires an external bec. Do I need to run it through the RX? I usually run it directly to my servo.

Just looking or some pro's & con's for use in a scale rig. Thanks in advance for any input/suggestions
