Are you going to sell the new ones with all the updated parts on it. Will you also coat and wire them as posted on some old threads.

There will be two more ESCs available soon that are wired, a single and double stack. The Zener mod will likely be left up to the end user, as it is not necessary.

Whats the negative Point on running the bec direct into the Rx at 7,4v and removing the plus wires from the esc's and also the bec on the esc's???

Or is it necessary to put in 6.1v from Rx side when removing the onboard bec??

If you remove the onboard BEC you have to feed the ESC brain with between 5 and 6.4 volts or else it won't boot up. I can tell I have opened a can of worms that nobody understands, so I highly suggest that you don't do it if you have more questions on how it works.

If you run the ESC like you would any other (castle bec feeds RX and remove the red wires from the escs rx wire), it just runs a bit warmer.

If you have some 30t skewed motors (Matched pair for MOA), I'd be in for that double stack..

I wind a batch of 30t skewed every two weeks to order. If you want some, get some! They are the Team Flows.

For those people who want to hack, and understand why we are powering the ESC from the outside...

Second post (and this post) updated with installation of zener shown. I recommend installing the zener between the BEC and the RX. This way, if the BEC melts down and throws full pack voltage at the RX, the zener will prevent your RX and ESCs from getting ruined in the process. The downside is that you cannot program the BEC without a jumper to bypass the zener, but it seems that most people only program them once anyway.

Using the zener between the RX and BEC also assumes you have pulled power direct to the servo, so there is full voltage getting to the servo and the zener buffering voltage down for the RX and ESC brain power.

The zener can also be installed between the RX and ESC. This does not protect the RX from a BEC failure, but will lower ESC temps.

So is the sole purpose of this mod to deactivate the onboard bec so it won't generate waste heat during operation? Or is there more to it?

The versions will be announced in this thread and offered through the site when ready. We do not have an expected date.

Hey John so are we leaving the Holmes Hold deactivated until firmware update? Or are we ok to use this feature?
Thanks John...

Is it wrong I understand everything John posted in this thread? Normally he loses me at some point...right now I feel like a genius! HAHA

Can't wait for the Double Stack...I can probably do it but my ESC's work now, might as well have the masters at Holmes Hobby do the dirty work.

Stacked a set of minis this evening. Figured I'd make alittle rough how-to on the process for those not so confident on the process.

Weeks, I'm having trouble exporting files to the manufacturer because I switched cad software and haven't fully learned the features. I'm working on it this morning before winding and building motors.
