JRH...Unbelievable Support..Why to support Vendors I tried to post this in the vendors forum, but cannot. Mods, if you feel this should be posted somewhere better, please do it. I don't want to put it in feedback because I want everyone to see it. To give an overview of what transpired: I was having issues with my Mamba25 & Holmes RR2. JRH was helping me every step of the way. Analyzing my set up and suggesting options to improve. Well, I did what he said and it definitely improved. One problem I was still having was a deadband at about 1/4 throttle. JRH said that it was a glitch with the ESC and to run it up to Castle Creations to let them know there was an issue. I did just that. Here is a copy of the email I sent on 3/31/07: "I am running the above ESC with a Revolver Outrunner for Rock Crawling. I purchased this from Holmes Hobbies. I am running into a situation where at 1/4 throttle the system has a deadband. It will sit there and chirp until I go above that level. Then it is taking off. I am running 8 SC Cells and a Spektrum System. It also seems like it stalls in situations when I am running. I am thinking it is the BEC. How can I over come this? I am seeing all this stuff about Castle Link...Are all Mamba 25's compatable with this or only special one's. I cannot see where you would plug an USB into it. I love your products and will keep supporting you . I just have some issues that I need help with. Thanks John Thornton" I just checked email and there was a response from the Castle Creations Support. Check out the first sentence...Now this is dedication to RCC. "John, John Robert Holmes dropped by here and showed us the deadband when used in crawling applications. We're going to make it adjustable in future software so you can adjust this to work well with any transmitter. We had to leave it in for the initial software releases so that people who use the stock radios can still have fun. :) As for the Castle Link & Mamba 25...you would need an additional piece of hardware for it to work. There is a small green board included with the Castle Link...you plug this into the end of the micro USB cable included with the Max, then plug the other end into the receiver plug on the ESC. Joe Ford Product Specialist Castle Creations" All I can say is WOW! JRH this is amazing support. Anyone that does not send their business to JRH or any of the RCC vendors is just nuts. This is one example of going the extra mile. I have no doubt, due to experiences, that any of the Vendors would not do the same thing. I just had to share this experience. Again...all I can say is WOW! Thanks JRH John |
yup, Thats John for you. great guy for sure |
Thanks man! Im taking a trip down to castle again here as soon as they release the newest update. I got Joe hooked on crawling at the RCX show. He said it was the first time he didnt feel like faster! faster! faster! was the only way to have more fun. Im just trying to figure this stuff out, and having a good time doing it. As soon as I think I know what works, somebody has to go and prove me wrong  |
