Voltage regulators!

I have three types of voltage regulators in stock, the MPI 6 volt, the MPI adjustable, and the Ubec switching BEC. These are a must have item for anybody using high voltage or strong servos. I run them on just about every vehicle and have chosen these three for cost effectiveness and power.

would you recommend these over the novak nitro regulators?

JohnRobHolmes 07-03-2007 05:08 PM

The Novak Universal reg is pretty nice, I just cant get novak products yet. Still waiting on a response to my last email, the story of my novak life

Heard anything further on the one's that Castle are supposed to be releasing?

rcjunky3 07-03-2007 09:33 PM

so they go inline from your servo to the reciever which means you would need 2 in a super ?
hustler with dual mamba maxes and 5955 servos with hyperions havent decided on a battery set up yet.

The Muscle 07-03-2007 10:33 PM

would you recommend one on a 2.2 front steer only with a 5955 servo? and Mamba Max?

rcjunky3 07-03-2007 10:39 PM

good question i was wondering the same on that

I run 1 reg from the batt to the reciever in my super. Powers my 1/4 scales no problem. I've been thinking of using 1 reg to each servo to get that little extra out of 'em though. I know where I'll order from now "thumbsup"

Got my UBEC yesterday. Very nice.

Installed it and tested it around the garage. So far I am very impressed. I can't believe how quick the servo is and how much power it has.

Thanks John

Can the MPI units work with Lipo's also? I noticed that you just listed 6-7 Cells. The on the UBEC you just listed 2-3 Lipo's.

Yep, voltage is voltage no matter what the source.

And I've used the fixed 6 volt MPI with my 2 cell Lipos.

Lipos are just batteries, nothing special really.

how about a 3s 11.1v 2100mah lipo mamba max and the 403oz JR:roll:

It would depend on your main pack voltage. A low voltage pack like a 6 cell would work well with the MPI 6 volt version. A higher voltage pack like 8 cells + would need the UBEC or adjustable reg to keep up. The UBEC is much more efficient at high voltage.

They do, but again the main pack voltage must be considered when selecting the voltage reg.

I would suggest you wait until the Castle reg comes out, or get the UBEC. You have to use a switching reg with 3 cell lipo to get any decent power.

Johnson420 07-15-2007 10:54 AM

Ordered two last night"thumbsup"
Thanks John

I've been using the Ubec in my electric planes, nice unit.

JohnRobHolmes 07-29-2007 03:22 AM

The UBEC is now labeled the Cool BEC. Same price, better construction. Castle regs coming soon...

rcjunky3 07-29-2007 09:17 AM

ordered 1 last nite thanks jrh

John Rob,

I'm not experiencing any problems currently but this is my set up; low voltage packs 6-7 cells, Hitec 5645, Mamba 25, brushless (TCS both motors). Nice but mild formula.

But I have run Lipos in other racing scales and love the power and weight reduction.

I plan on finishing out the season in my current formula. But over the winter I have some plans to turn up the burner which will include a voltage regulator.

How far can I push the Mamba 25 if I add a JR 9000T or Hitec 5995, Lipos 11.1 v with those additions which voltage regulator would you suggest?

Will I then need to add the Mamba Max?

Will my Mamba 25 be a good back up or just part of my RC Museum?

Thanx Stormin' "thumbsup"

JohnRobHolmes 07-29-2007 02:59 PM

The mamba 25 wont put out a whole lot of BEC power. With a 3 cell lipo you will have next to no amperage available. I would suggest the Cool BEC since it is switching. You can then use the mamba 25 with powerful servos to your hearts desire.

Racer4Life 07-29-2007 10:14 PM

What kind of price is going to be on the Castle unit?
