Looking for a lightweight motor for your 2.2 or clodbuster? Introducing the Revolver Black! Designed around the OG revolver, yet with higher quality construction and Sleek looks.

These are great outrunners for just about any rig, big or small. The small diameter allows gearing without worry of rubbing the gearbox, but it is large enough to produce a ton of power. I have even used one of these on my 14" super rig!

Bolts up to ANY standard gearbox with plenty of room for all gearing choices
1/8" shaft fits standard pinions

350 Watts continuous
3.5 ounces, 127g
1000kv
6-12 cells nimh 2-4s lipo
1 3/8" width x 1 5/8" long construction (34x42mm)

3.5mm bullit plugs installed from factory

As a side note I have been testing these for about 4 months, and haven't been disappointed once. Super smooth startup, works with any ESC, plenty of power, and cool running.

Gotta get me one of them"thumbsup"

Del Monte 07-20-2007 11:16 AM

sweet!!

Wrecker 07-20-2007 11:56 AM

Is this thing as smooth as the original Revolver with a mamba 25 or is it going to be a little jerky at super slow speeds like most motors are?
I really don't like how unsmooth the rr2 and the bm9 have been compared to a quark in general or a mamba 25 with a OG Revolver.

The construction is different, and I will post up how it reacts with a mamba 25 for you. The OG revolver had a very inconsistant magnetic feild, which acutally helped the startup with the mamba 25. There is still a bit of a jerk to the startup with a mamba 25, which can be helped greatly with lower gearing and higher voltage. I will get a vid up by the evening.

sexy, very sexy

I'm interested, my OG revolver is still my favorite.

Same here, but I will be getting a Black to try out!"thumbsup"

dittohead 07-20-2007 06:22 PM

So how does this one stack up against a crawlmaster?

Less power, 1 ounce lighter, easier to deal with gearing because of the smaller diameter.

It does have a few twitches when coming up to an object. The quark 33 and mamba max do not show that, interestingly enough.

JohnRobHolmes 07-20-2007 09:06 PM

lol!

I guess my speakers aren't turned up as loud as yours. How would $100 sound for a combo?

Kranberry 07-20-2007 09:10 PM

thats not to bad8) you got somthen up your sleve dont ya

JohnRobHolmes 07-20-2007 09:12 PM

Nope, that is just a GWS and mamba 25 or quark 33 with a few dollars knocked off. I suppose I should put that up on my site eh?

This looks great ... might have to get one for my 1.9 scaler, btw what happened to the 3025's you just took them down?!

DrasticSports.com 07-20-2007 10:51 PM

High Lift

I am building a highlift, what esc & motor do you recommend?

Wow, those are awesome beadlocks, gonna have to get myself a pair, hehe...

Thanks,

Tim

Wrecker 07-20-2007 11:25 PM

Thanks for the video JRH, that's exactly what I wanted to know.....and exactly what I'm trying to get rid of.:-( It looks like the og revolver still is the smoothest motor for the mamba 25. The bm9 I'm running now does exactly what your's did in the video and it's just not smooth enough for my driving style. Thanks though.

SACCO 07-20-2007 11:55 PM

$100 for that combo is awesome.

Your truck in 2wd in the vid?

I have other motors on tap to replace the 3025s, I will get them on the site tomorrow most likely.

A highlift would work great with a tiny motor (like the GWS 2215) because of the three speeds, but a Revolver would bolt up very well and have lots and lots of power too. For the ESC I cannot recommend the mamba max enough. The quark 33 is also a great choice right now too, depending on how flexible you want the ESC to be and your budget.

cartronicshn 07-21-2007 07:04 AM

JRH you are killing me!! now i keep going back and forth on my head about the new crawler system and these new option you have now, i love all my bl setups i have gotten from you"thumbsup", i wonder if these new motors have the same power and control as the original outrunners i have on 2 of my clods if the answer is yes then put me up for 2 combos.8)

JohnRobHolmes 07-21-2007 07:36 AM

The have more power and control than the OG revolvers. Nicer construction all around.

cartronicshn 07-21-2007 07:54 AM

So it's $100 for a combo with mamba 25?

JohnRobHolmes 07-21-2007 08:10 AM

A combo with a GWS motor, not the Revolver Black

No problem. The mamba 25 is just a bit jerky, I dont know why though.

Yep. Keen eye there.

FrankyRizzo 07-21-2007 09:31 AM

I love it. The motor sounds like a small turbine even with a quark.

JohnRobHolmes 08-02-2007 10:01 AM

Got a few vids comparing the motor to a hyperion z3013-14. I did a few climbs with no throttle management (some jerkyness is visible) and with proper throttle management to keep the tires turning. This not only compares the two motors (can you tell a difference?) but it also illustrates how driving a brushless outrunner motor takes some time to get used to. I rarely stall out my motors, but I have been driving outrunners in my crawlers for a long time and it is second nature to modulate the throttle properly.

Presale payment sent!

I guess if I own all your other motors, I should probably pick this one up too"thumbsup"

Offroader5 08-15-2007 04:17 PM

Hey John, how long till you get more of these in stock?

JohnRobHolmes 08-15-2007 06:53 PM

As of yesterday, the exepcted arrival date is a week and a half from now. The factory forgot to ship them last week, happy happy joy joy. Now I gotta wait for the next shipment.

JohnRobHolmes 03-27-2008 05:15 PM

Just got a new shipment of these guys, only took 4 months from the factory! They look great, and will be doing duty in my next scale rig with a 9 cell flat nimh pack.

Gimpy00Wang 03-27-2008 06:34 PM

Sweet. Order placed!

- Chris

MrNate 04-02-2008 07:39 AM

How would this motor do with a 2s Hyperion LiteStorm pack rated at 20c? It looks like what I want to match up with a Sidewinder, but I want to make sure I don't have to go buy more batteries to run it.

Gimpy00Wang 04-02-2008 08:51 AM

MrNate... What capacity is your pack? I run Hyperion packs as well. My current setup is a 3s 1800 Hyperion, Revolver w/10T, R2, Quark 33 which I'm really enjoying. I used to run a 2s 1500 Hyperion, Z3013-16 w/15T, R2, Quark 33 and it was OK, but a little slower. I'd say you should be fine so long as you have a 1500 or larger.

- Chris

MrNate 04-02-2008 08:53 AM

It's an 1800mah pack, I've got a few for my RC18T, so that gives you an idea of their physical size.

What is the difference between the Revolver Black and the GWS the comes in the combo.

Do you think that a sidewinder/revolver black is better/same/worse than a Sidewinder/crawlmaster sport combo

I am looking to build a Ax10.

Thanks

You should be fine. Like I said...same packs I use. Started using them (2s 1500's) in my 18B. Then used the 2s 1500 in my rig...then moved to 3s 1800.

Just keep in mind..."volt up, gear down". If you have cogging you can try to gear down a bit and if that doesn't work...you might want to move to a 3s. You probably already know where to get Hyperion packs for 10% off w/free shipping. :D
