I am curious to know if a mamba monster on A123 9.9 volts would turn two cobalts smoothly? Parallel wiring. Zero to step by step smooth. Not sure if thats a MM question or a Cobalt question. Either way, any input would be helpful.

Ripperfi 12-05-2008 02:18 AM

Any info?

The little cobalt 500 is pretty powerful, but it is hard to compare to the 540 body motors. They feel about the same, but I haven't been able to dyno one to see just how it stacks up.

Yes it would, no problem at all. Even a MM would do the job.

Ripperfi 12-05-2008 02:43 PM

Very cool. Thanks for the info. Running 2, 7 turns would equal running 1 3.5 turn? Is that correct?

JohnRobHolmes 12-05-2008 02:44 PM

Yes, but these aren't like a normal 7t. They are about as fast as a 30t motor.

MystRacing 12-29-2008 04:02 PM

John,

I have four 2S Lipo's that I don't really want to replace, they a rated for 24.2amps continuous. I'd Like to run the 7T. My question is this: Is there any reason I shouldn't just run 2 of the Lipo's in parallel?

That should give me 48.4 amps continuous with double the capacity at 7.4 volts and I wouldn't have to replace my batteries.

bRIBEGuy 12-31-2008 10:43 AM

I managed to score a NEW 5t off a forum member a while back, and I'm now debating what vehicle it will find a home in.

My question, is as to how is will handle a 3S LiPo. Is this fine, or will the motor be running a bit hot?

I think running two packs in parallel is a great idea. I have done it before.

It would run hot on 3s, but for comps it is fine. Just don't go out bashing for too long without keeping an eye on the temps- keep check on it until it stabilizes and you know how hard it can be thrashed.

John will you ever get anymore 10T's in again? I really hope so"thumbsup"

Eric

JohnRobHolmes 01-01-2009 12:23 PM

I will probably get them remade the first quarter of this year.

Great to hear John"thumbsup"

Hi !

I was going to order a 7t Cobalt Puller but they were out of stock ! I shouldn´t be so slow..
Any info when You will be getting more ?

inline6power 01-19-2009 11:52 AM

John, rigtht now i am running a pro integy lathe 65 turn motor. i love the current speed i have with it. not a real fast kinda guy. my problem is i would like more torque. i was going to start a new thread but the forum woudnt let me. i want to know what motor you offer that will give me pretty much the same speed, around a walking speed along with monster torque. i had gotten the rig all bound up a couple of times this weekend at a comp and it didnt have enough torque to break things or to get me out of the bind. not saying i want the torque so i can brake things but i would like to have a chance to get out of binds if need be. running a sidewinder esc, 3c lipo, bec and so on. any recomendations? thanks in advance.

I have more on the way, should be about two to three weeks until they are back from the machinist.

I don't have anything so slow, except another 65t motor. The puller would be more than twice as fast. I do have one 65t Torquemaster, which will give you a lot more torque with the same wheelspeed. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1

thanks for getting back so soon. is there another way i can get crazy torque without going to a gear reduction box?

inline6power 01-19-2009 12:11 PM

is there a way i could run the 7t and put a big big spur gear on? i really dont mind having wheel speed but i am more of a torque guy. how well does this motor run at crawling speeds?

JohnRobHolmes 01-19-2009 12:28 PM

The puller runs very well at crawling speeds. Gear it down as much as you can, maybe run 2s lipo or equivelent, and you would be just fine.

thanks. think thats what i am going to do. much rather have torque and it seems as if this is the torque master of them all. thanks john

inline6power 01-19-2009 12:44 PM

thanks john. any idea on when you might have some 7t in stock?

Hi John,

My crawler, with a Cobalt Puller 7T installed, had an unfortunate encounter with a saltwater tidepool a few weeks ago. Fortunately, my ESC and RX were OK, but I fried a servo. I rinsed the motor off with fresh water, but apparently that wasn't good enough. One of the bearings is now making a loud howling/whining noise up to about 1/2 throttle. (It quiets down from 1/2-throttle to full speed.) Can you please let me know how to get a pair of new bearings for the Cobalt 7T? Local hobby stores don't stock the 4x9x4F bearings in that motor.

Also, what is the procedure for replacing the brushes?

Thanks.

And I predict when you get this motor you turn into a wheelspeed guy... "thumbsup" Especially if you are thinking about a 3cell lipo.

Unfortunately, it is a known and documented side effect of buying and running a HH cobalt puller. Sad really to think of all the innocent unaware crawlers to be left with broken parts and shredded tires. :ror:

Thinking about getting the 7t with a FXR pro for the losi comp crawler when its out, would the wheelspeed of the 7t be comparable to the goat, and will it have as much lowend as the goat aswell?

crawlman 01-29-2009 08:03 PM

I have 2 roosters what motors do you think I should use on a super????
I was looking at the 10 but i can seem to find them on your web site is that like a 35t???? thanks

JeremyH 02-09-2009 12:52 PM

John,

do you have any 7Ts in stock? Your website says that you expected some in on 02/06, but I wanted to check before I placed my order.

Also, should I expect any problems from my Sidewinder if I run this motor with a 3S lipo?

Thanks,

Jeremy

OSIRIS 02-09-2009 07:45 PM

Will you still be getting stock on the 7T Puller on the 16th?

Oh....that is weird. When I looked the other day I could have sworn that it said Feb 6th.

I can edit the site :D I keep the most up to date info there when possible.

racerx_rc 02-11-2009 02:13 PM

so around the 16th huh better start saving I need two of the 7t's"thumbsup"

Thorne_Dog 02-17-2009 11:12 PM

I was thinking about getting one of your 540's but...if you'll have either a 7t or 10t of these bad boys in stock sometime soon I might have to go that route instead. I see you've got some 7's coming soon, will you have 10's around the same time frame as well? And a few pages back (possibly even the first page) you said no replacement brushes were available at that time. Have you found a source for such a thing yet? If not, how long are these included brushes lasting prior to needing replacement?

JohnRobHolmes 02-18-2009 04:26 PM

Just got a few in, and they are on the site.

10t armatures are being quoted right now, but I can't get the full motor remade at this time. The 7t is still available.

Replacement parts are available now. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=23&page=1

Thorne_Dog 02-18-2009 06:54 PM

Will the Tekin FX-R be a compatible speed control for this beast? Or should I stick with a mamba max or sidewinder? I'll be using a 2 cell lipo rated at about 33 amps continuous which is right on part with what your website recommends.

JeremyH 02-18-2009 07:03 PM

John, I ordered one earlier, but upon checkout, forgot to mark that I'd pay through Paypal. Could you please send me a payment request? The order number is: 3015

Thanks,

Jeremy

I found your Paypal address and sent the payment.

I received my 7t yesterday. I couldn't wait to install it in mine because I don't have all my parts yet. I took it over to ajc40's and stuffed it in one of his 2.2 scale trucks. The truck I put it in is very heavy and the 7t worked awsome. Lot's of wheel speed and gobs of torque. "thumbsup"
