Nice end bell. Is there a plan for a round brush version?

Count me in for a set I've been waiting patiently and my poor ol' motors are tired.

The big reason these took so long to finish was my efforts to make the can, face, and endbell for efficient manufacture. I've knocked $24 from the initial expected cost, and I will be working to reduce it even further. We will be using all USA parts and labor too, except magnets. We will likely stop offering regular lightened 540 motor cans within a few months. It is almost the same cost, lighter, and much higher performance to make them with a freshly machined can and neo or cobalt magnets rather than remachine the stamped cans. |

Inventory will go live in about a week. I'm winding plenty of arms now to get ahead of initial sales.

We will begin live inventory in a few days along with a press release and new thread. Final weight of the Flow 500s landed at 4.8oz with the SL (superlight) can. It is bumped up a few grams with extra magnet thickness for supreme torque density. Weight weenies will have an even lighter choice in six weeks. Flow 400s are 3.75 with the SL can. There will be two can thicknesses made, along with 35mgo and 48mgo magnet grades. These four choices will be available as inexpensive tuning cans for a driver to easily change KV and power band at will. Heavy cans feature "regular" thickness back iron and stiffening features only where needed to focus the strength and rigidity of the can. We have also refined the magnet shape far enough that 3 slot straight arms can be used with 35MGO strength magnets and retain a smooth and usable startup. This opens up machined wound and lower cost armatures into the future, after more testing has been done. Now for some motor pron. |
