Just purchased a 400 puller for my scaler that is 7 1/2 LBS.
Motor is a 20t with a 5 seg Armature.
Motor runs around 150f with gearing in SCX-10.

How long will this motor last in between rebuilds if used in trail runs and G6 type events?

I can't estimate your time between rebuilds, it depends on your driving style, terrain, and how dirty the motor gets. 10 running hours, 100 running hours, just can't guess.

We are not able to build any new 5 slot 400s until about mid December, as we ran out of armatures before the next batch was ordered. I just didn't expect them to be so popular! We have a small amount, about 30, that are already wound into various options between 20t and 13t. So if you don't want 13XX , contact us and we can see what is on the shelf. We also have many three slot 400s ready to go, between 30t and 38t options.

OG Cobalt Pullers coming back doesn't seem likely. I never heard back from the factory that found the stash of cans. I'll keep trying, but not putting my eggs into that basket until I have them in hand. In the mean time, I'm working out the new 520 can design so we can bring those back at an affordable price.

While making Puller 500 endbells last week we also ran a few nude nylon endbells. It was more for experiment of machining nylon, but they finished out very good. Took more than twice as long to machine the nylon, so it would add $10 to a motor.

Anybody interested in a special edition? I think white would look great with silver hoods. Only made ten.

This week we ran some endbells to prototype the round brush tube design, bare endbell is the black one. The primary goal is better conductivity. But it may also be lighter and smaller. It would be nice to improve all three, but I won't guarantee it!

We haven't tried dying them yet, but I imagine it would hold since they are practically translucent and nylon.

Checkpoint style hood, as far as being a tube of metal on a plastic endbell. Still rectangular brushes and torsion springs. Round hole mates easiest with making round tubes on the lathe

We just got shipment of more armature blanks for 400s. Seeing as how I'm looking at a queue of over 100 motors in production before we add 400s to inventory, I don't think we can keep to the normal 2 week turnaround. Maybe three weeks? I can't slide back over to production for at least one or two, as I'm in the middle a manufacturing run for an OEM client.

We are also going to offer only japanese bearings from now on. As mentioned before, the Puller magnetics cause more vibration and pull than a regular motor. Any bearing tolerance that is not perfect will make a rattling sound. The only vendor we have found with tight enough tolerance for every motor to be silent is Japanese. So we will no longer offer choices of bearing in this product, we can only build it one way and have consistent quality.

The CNC is opening up this week, so I'll be making the next round of housings over the next two weeks or so. Black Oxide coat takes about two weeks, so expect at least 3 before we have the next round of em available again.

You can just spray paint them pink or something. I'm fine with that.

Parts are going through production, but I don't want to give a date. Got some tick bite sickness right after my previous post and have pushed myself into an overworked mental state over the past few months. Too many months of overtime and two little kids at home added up.

I'll update soon though. Still working on design and improvements that y'all will like.

Tick's are no fun man! Get some sleep. I'm going to pickup a CrawlMaster Pro in the meantime.

Do you plan on updating this thread when they are ready? I've been a fan of the puller since the OG 7t's, but sold that long ago.

I will update the thread when we are ready. I'm also using another motor builder as a backup for manufactured housings in case my schedule takes too long.

Still making them. Just too many things going on to always remember to bump a thread.

Current work: Torquemaster Magnum. Used to be called puller 540 but I have a brushless with that name now and didn’t want confusion.

Magnum motors are now added to the site. Haven't taken photos yet, but they look like our standard Pro 540 motors on the outside.
