I am going to North Carolina for labor day weekend. I was just wondering if I would have my esc back by then? I would love to take my crawler.

I built a trailer to tow behind my crawler, so it's probably reasonable to assume the motor might get a little warm with the extra weight. I bought a $6 fan and rigged it up pointed straight at the motor, is this a sufficient way to cool the motor? I don't want to gear down and loose my wheelspeed when I am not towing the trailer around.
yep, more air flow is always a good way to keep things cool!

Default XR10, dual BR XL, and a Hitec 7980TH - Castle BEC needed?

I have two of the HH BR XLs for my new XR10 and I'm planning to run a Hitec 7980TH servo that puts out 611oz of torque at 7.2v. Will I need to run a Castle BEC for this or will the speedos' BECs handle it? Running MaxAmps 1100mah 50C 3S lipos too, if that matters...

The BEC thing is new to me. Coming from off-road racing and this is my first crawler...

Not fully sure what was causing the issue. It will take more digging to figure it out.

Running two ESCs you should be fine with one servo. If you want more power you will need an external BEC, since the internal one only supplies 6v.

12ga wire is just fine, maybe even overkill. On 12ga, you may need an 80 watt iron to get the heat on fast, although it can be done with a 60 or nice 40w with a good tip. Temperature depends on the solder you use. Around 600f is common.

so this sodering iron with 60/40 soder should be fine?

OK - so if my servo puts out 611oz at 7.2v it will put out less torque running on your ESCs unless I add a BEC? That's what I was trying to figure out. I guess I'll have to add a BEC after all.

Thanks!

what would be the run time of your 1300mah lipo in an xr-10 with dual toruque masters and 45t motors in the
2s version
and
3s version
thanks for the help

edit: also can you stack the torque masters on top of eachother(the bottom of one is sitting on the heat sink or is that not good) or would it be better to have it botom to botome with the heat sinks up aginst the chasi?

Since I will have to run an external BEC as well I'm worried that I won't be able to get the two BR XLs to fit my XR10. If I can't make them work can I exchange for two Tekin FXRs?

I've been saving a couple of your 14t 400 pullers for awhlie. They have never been run. I want to put them in my rx10 but one of the motors doesn't run! I just touched the leads to a battery to get the rotation and it seems to have a direct short because the battery gets hot right now! Is there something I can check??? Is there any warranty? Help!

Default Dual ESC with CC BEC?

Do you have any guidance on how to wire two BR XLs with a CC BEC? I've searched all through this site and haven't found a clear answer. It would make a great sticky in the electronics section...

I need a recommendation on how to wire the following components in my XR10:

- BR XL (x2)
- Hitec 7980TH servo
- CC 10 amp BEC
- Futaba R604FS Rx
- 3s lipo
- HH 45T motors (x2)

Thanks!

UPDATE: I asked my question in more detail in a new thread in the XR10 forum since I'm sure there are a lot of others with my same question.

Hmm - now I'm told that running dual BR-XLs gives me a combined 10 amps which should be plenty to power my 7980TH at 6v. Is that true?

Quote:
If you were running two BR-XL's I would make sure the voltage was set the same on both and leave both red wires plugged in. It will double the available amperage and should give you close to the output of a CC BEC. Mdowney could use this same method but a CC BEC is easy and reliable as well.

You could stack them how you want. On that combo they won't even get warm. Runtime? I can't guess at that, too many variables. Maybe around 20 minutes.

Yep, we could do that

Check to be sure there isn't something in the motor. Otherwise I can take a look at it and replace or repair for you.

Not at the moment, but I am planning to offer a double FXR combo shortly, just waiting for my next shipment from Tekin.
