JRH - I'm a big fan. Good Q for a man of your talents:

Can you recommend a good power, long runtime battery option for my current setup: AX10 (which I'll be converting to an SCX10), w a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport 33 Combo (Quark Procar Brushless ESC) you built up for me back in '07?

I've been running 8-cell Elite saddle packs, which ran fine, but I'm considering going to lipo with the SCX conversion. I'm open to either NiMH or LiPo, but want long run time, reasonable power, and good batt durability (the 8-cells never seemed to last past 3 months of once/week running). If LiPo, I'll go with a new charger (using an MRC Superbrain 969 right now - it says it works on Lithium on the package, but I've otherwise read that's not so), so I'm open to a reco there too.

Thanks!!
-Pete

My recommendation would be a three cell lipo of 1300mah or larger. The 1300 will be small and keep the rig nimble, and you can swap out packs every so often. 5000mah packs would fit on the scx frame, but the added weight would really hurt performance since you need three cells.

For the charger I can highly recommend the Hyperion ones. High quality, solid features, and dependable design. The 0606i AC/DC is a nice 50w charger that is easy to use. It would charge a 1300mah 3s pack in about twenty minutes, or 5000mah pack in a bit over an hour. For more power you will start spending bigger bucks.

Does it make a difference which direction you push the rig? Sounds like the throttle channel on your radio may be very close to the edge of "neutral" for the ESC, so sometimes it could fall out of drag mode.

Thanks for getting my BRXL back so quick...but the fix didn't last more than 5 minutes. I sent it back. I paid for the repair/replace with waterproofing last time. Think it needs to be replaced. Thanks for your help. Can't wait to get it back, my backup ESC is not as smooth as your product.

Default I broke my BR-XL

Hello john,

I have broke my BR-XL. I swapped the + and - on my 3s lipo. When I connect the lipo to the BR-XL, I mada a nice short circuit.
Results: I got a big lipo and a BR-xl that no longer worked.
When I tested the BR-XL with a other lipo, the green and red led constantly flashing very fast. This is all what the BR-XL does.
Can you make the BR-XL or has he sufferd to much damage?
I live in Belgium, so shipping is a little more expensive.
I have already sent you a mail from your site 6 or 7 weeks ago, but I have not received a mail back.

Thanks,
Steven

Default Upcoming Sale?

I am in the market for a couple of ESC's for my Berg and was thinking of a pair of BR-XL's. Just wondering if you are planning any Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales or any Coupon codes any time soon
Thanks

I have arcing in my motor and I hear a popping noise when I let off the throttle completely going forwards. It doesn't do it in reverse. Is this normal?

Hi John, you know I have two next projects in mind so I’d like to know which would be your recommendation for them, I mean motor/esc combos, and I’m speaking about your products of course:
1- SSS-R chassis with Axial axles and transmission without dig
2- Axial SCX 10 Honcho Kit
Many thanks
