When are they going to restock?!? Arggg!!! I placed an order with amain on 12/24, and there is no expected restock date posted. Worth waiting? Maybe. I have a feeling that the Venture will grow in popularity, because of its out-of-box design & capability, but if HPI can't get these hop-ups out in a timely manner...

Geez this is why I ordered the universals right away. Sadly, HPI can't be trusted! They are shooting themselves in the foot after doing it time and time and time again!

I wanted the builder kit, when they backed the date up a month, brought out a black body and ran out of cvds when they stocked them , I said screw it. The Axial kit with its rod ends and lousy shocks are way to solve, and price point isn’t that different. So I went with tried and true, I really wanted to ty those HPI shocks.

Yep. I was contemplating putting my Venture up for sale all the past week, and then yesterday I got an order update email from Amain! Yay! So, I might at least try the new steering before deciding whether to sell it or not.

Just trying to get an idea as why you were thinking about selling your Venture? I have been waiting for the SBK to be released. Is the Venture that bad or is it just needs the steering? From what I have read it seems like a good truck. The plastic also seems to be better than Axial and is on par with Vaterra and Traxxashit. Any truth in that? Also read the shocks are very good. Any feedback is appreciated.

The RTR uses outdated dogbone steering, which is annoying, especially after being spoiled by my Ascender, SCX10 II, and TRX-4. It’s a solid rig, overall, but I was getting tired of waiting for the CVD’s to be made available. Also, I have other 12.3” wb platforms, so I wouldn’t be shorthanded if I let this one go.
I recently bought a new home, with less space for my RC hobby. Consequently, I must reduce my collection, so I’m now having to take a hard look at what I’m willing to part with.

RPP has the CVDs back in stock as of 12:21 EST. Get 'em before they're gone!

Does anybody have a line on more of these? A buddy just ordered a RTR and I told him he NEEDS to track down the CV axles... if they're still out there?

At this point, I doubt that you'll find any for a long time if ever. It depends on if anybody buys HPI or not.

I realize that, just hoping somebody knew of a set sitting on a shelf somewhere. Has anybody identified a stub shaft from another model that fits? Wouldn't be the first time I've welded shafts together!

After breaking an HPI cvd I found it wasn't much work to fit Ascender cvd's. A little file work on the tangs that fit into the spool, more file work on the insides of the chub because the ascender cvd is about a 3mm bigger diameter. Then some shims between the outer wheel bearing and hex pin. They ate a little larger, and steer sharper than the hpi version. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with the hpi cvd's.

Post some pics? Ive been desperately searching for some cvds. It didn’t require any changes to the bearings in the knuckle?

Sorry I don't have any way of posting pictures. Its pretty simple swap.no messing with bearings, the distance from the inner bearing to the centerline pivot of the cvd is identical so there is no binding of any sort. Only other things to note is that the hole for the hex pin is a little farther out from the stocket, so your track width will be a little wider than before if you use the wide kit hex. I used he's from an hpi blitz, which where narrower than the kit hex's and allowed me to retain the stock track width.
