Default A swedish Venture...

I was thinking about getting myself a TRX-4 but I got a good deal on a Venture so I ended up with one of these instead
So, I got it yesterday and I started working on it right away...

I took all the electronic components from my old Kyx (axial-clone) and swapped in, which are

Futaba 3PV transmitter
Hobbywing Axe 1800kv brushless system
Alturn USA Servo AHBS-2407HTG-HV

Need to do some "cleaning" up of the wires but just wanted to see if everything works before starting to cutting/shortening anything. The round box is a swedish snuff-box in which I put the external bec and the controller for my winch. Also but som nuts in as "spacers" to get the servo further down in order to use a normal aluminium servo arm instead of the stock servo saver.

For wheels and tires I went with Proline Hyrax'es on Traxxas wheels. Plastic wheels with aluminium rings. Reason for that is that I think they look good and I could buy them directly at work. Put som lead weights on the rims in the front

So far no other options, just went crazy with stickers on the body, a yeah racing light bar, yeah racing spare wheel cover, winch in the front (only test mounted with tape so far) and lights front and rear. For the headlights I got inspiration from Hemistorm on youtube and used some proline light buckets.

Only tested it on the floor indoors so far but it seems so much more nimble than my old Kyx/scx clone. Will take the maiden voyage this sunday, can't wait

I have ordered the CVD's, brass axle weights, 4-link rear suspension and aluminium lower links from HPI, not sure when they will arrive though. Also my friend have printed a LCG battery tray that I will get by next week. Maybe I'll get the SSD brass knuckles etc further on. And most likely another body, even though I think the cruiser is pretty cool

I am liking the look you got going on there you want with some nice upgrades. Will be watching to see where you go with this. Trying to get my hands on a kit but no luck yet.

What size are the Hyrax looks like they look really good on there

A tobacco "tin" as an electronics box!

Nice ride though.

Carpet: Thanks! Yeah I like the green with The gun metal body, might ending up paiting the axle housings green as well! Was thinking about The SBK too but got a good deal on this and did not want to wait

Jato: Haha yep, was the only small plastic container that would fit them both inside that I had around at the moment

Did you trim your fenders, or are those class 1 sized Hyrax tires?

I actually have a set of class 1 too but I thought that this rig should be more performance oriented rather than looking completely scale
+ I thought these would be the best that I could get asap

Maiden voyage done today!
Really happy with how the car handles, maybe a bit top heavy but that will be adressed soon with new battery tray and axle weights
The axe 1800kv combo gave the Venture huge power and a pretty insane top speed for a car like this, pretty fun though to get it to jump..! And the Hyrax tires works really good, felt like I had traction on all of the surfaces I put them up against today.
Ended up drowning my BEC and loosing the screw that holds the servo arm (I took the one holding the spare wheel arm, that's why it's missing in some photos...) in place, but that's not the cars fault

Some photos to go along with that, seems like I forgot to take some photos of some of the more real "crawling" we did though...

Haha indeed it has! I did not expect it to make the Venture go this fast either. When I had it in my old truck (Kyx SCX10 clone) it was pretty slow, so the HPI must be geared very different from the start

Not bad! The supplier for scandinavia still have no date on when they are expected to arrive :/ Installed the axle weights and central battery mount today though!

Which central battery mount did you go with?

Turns out my hobbywing BEC survived the drowning after spending a couple of being on a radiator (think that is what is called at least...)!

So the wiring below are just temporary for trying out the bec and the new "layout" for the electronics.

As I mentioned, I did some "upgrades" to the car.

First of I got the 3d printed LCG battery tray and the chassis brace to go along with it. This gave me the idea of moving the receiver along with the BEC and winch-controller backwards onto the brace where the battery used to be.

Secondly I got the brass axle weights from HPI in both the front and rear axles

Then I got some yeah racing 15mm hex widener. Not sure if they will do any good but in my mind they should make the car more stable when tilting sideways. Please give me feedback on this!

Finally I also got a "high clearance" rear bumper, also found on thingverse that my friend printed for me. I do like the look of the stock one better and this have no mount for the spare tire, but it should improve "performance" a great bit with the higher clearance along with loosing the weight in back of the spare wheel.

Most likely I wont have any time to try it out with these new upgrades untill next weekend though...
