Default It's not looking good for my warranty claim

Got this email last night in response to me following up on the parts that were short in my SBK.

Quote:
We are sorry to have to confirm that Kevin Murphy and Jason Maloney of CVR Global LLP and Kevin Brown of Kevin Brown Advisory Limited were appointed as Joint Administrators of the HPI Racing Ltd on 1 April 2019.

We confirm that the Company is continuing to trade under the supervision of the Joint Administrators whilst a buyer for the business is sought.

The administration process limits HPI Racing’s ability to bring in more stock or process warranty claims until further notice. We are hoping for a speedy resolution so HPI Racing Ltd can continue trading in the long term.

We looked into the last warranty shipment to go to the USA as it was sent only 2 days before HPI Racing Ltd went into Administration. The staff dealing with this claim have been made redundant. It is my belief that the US office is also currently closed until further notice. However, staff there have said that these warranty packages should still leave in the next day or so if they had not done so already.

If the package does not arrive and should the business be sold in near future, we would expect any new buyer to accept warranty on past sales where the administrator currently will not, therefore our suggestion would be that you wait for a few weeks if possible and try and claim once the administration process is over if the package doesn’t arrive. We would suggest keeping an eye on the hpiracing.com website and social media feeds for news on any potential sale of the business.

Kind regards,

HPI Support

Well fingers crossed for you (and others). I do hope someone picks up HPI. Not just because of warranty claims, but because the Venture ( and other stuff) is good. However the scale crawler market has so many choices in brands now it's crowded.

I already ordered a body post set because I figured that HPI would never come through and I wanted to get them while they were still in stock. I will finish my Venture, but I kind of regret ordering it.

I must be living under a rock as this is the first I've heard about HPI's latest fiasco.

Once you've driven your Venture kit all regrets will be gone. I've about 3 hours of use on mine with zero complaints. Its been stable, predictable, and goes where I want it to without complaint.

That said, your making me nervous on parts availability. Time to order up a spare spur gear and cvd's hoping I won't need them for some time.

Good thing you ordered, probably not coming otherwise and if you wait a couple weeks might not be any left in stock to buy at LHS or online.

Yep. I feel real good about paying $12.00 for a body post. At least I can work on getting the body mounted this weekend.

I have some random leftover parts from my build if anyone is in need, feel free to PM me.

It is unfortunate but at least they were pretty honest about it, whatever thats worth.

I looked around for parts in the UK. Not much available now. Most shops have everything on back order and no known stock date. Found some transmission parts on ebay, so might get them. I will keep my Venture as I spent a good bit of time building it and want to drive it more. I'm not worried about bodies as can always find something to fit. If it's anything like my Ascenders, then not much wears out anyway if well maintained.

I'm shocked. The body post set arrived today.

Nice. I just looked how much I spent on rc stuff this year alone and almost had a heart attack lol. Still will get some parts for the Venture. Front drive shafts are unavailable anywhere though it seems.

You can use driveshafts from other brands. You may have to cut them to size.

I don't think HPI is going to survive this one, sadly. After a decade of mismanagement and spotty parts availability their name and reputation has been soured. Unless a company is willing to gamble and can acquire HPI for a bargain I just don't see it being around much longer.

Yeah, it's a shame as the Venture is so good. Whatever happens I'm not selling it anyway, even if it becomes a shelf queen.

I laughed a little while ago when I realized that I may have received the last new HPI product to come into the US.

A few months ago one or two of the Ebay chop shops were liquidating or at least selling at a extremely low cost parts for these. I put one together for so cheap, that 4 complete axles cost me less than $50. I think I spent less than 100 bucks on a slider minus body. Time to hit feebay for replacement parts

I just bought some parts from ebay uk. Can't find an axle housing at the moment as I would like at least 1 for spares. Bond to be some around, just got to look longer.

That message certainly does not sound optimistic.

I'm really hoping they find a buyer or some other solution, it'd be a tragic loss to the RC biz to lose HPI completely.

But I did go out and buy an extra SBK so I've spare parts, just in case..

Did you find one locally, or did you order it?
