I don't want Horizon to swoop in and sweep up the pieces of everyone's bad business decisions. Now that they have Axial, I don't expect anything to ever be done with the Ascender and you can bet that the Venture would fare no better.

Well, you could look at it that way, but there’ll always be someone who finds value in a discontinued platform, because it’ll have that special legacy appeal. I remembered wanting a Venom Crawler, a few years back, just because it wasn’t made anymore, and seemed appealing to own as a collectors item.

Horizon announces, ships, discounts and discontinues models faster than HPI can ship a single kit to the US these days. I'd hate to think of what they would do to the HPI lineup but... I guess it's better than having no HPI at all.

I've been watching this HPI situation casually. I'm curious if we'll expect to see some sweet deals on remaining stock of kits, or perhaps the prices will stay level or even spike with current owners scooping everything up while they can. Hmmm

Take this with a grain of salt but... There was some chatter on some YouTube comments mentioning some hobby shops stating that HPI is being picked up by Horizon.

Kind of a "I heard from a guy, that knew a guy, that was buddies with a guy, that knows a guy" type of news.... but it was thrown out there.

Hmm. Well I don't know what to make of that rumour. I feel Vaterra are being left behind since Horizon aquired Axial. 2 Axial products and nothing but a cheaper, but new bodied recycle from Vaterra. At least spares maybe available, but in the UK they can take a while get delivered.

With Horizon already having the Ascender and the SCX10ii, I wouldn't see any reason for them to keep the Venture around if that did happen.

I managed to get some spare parts delivered, but it took a few days. Just some transmission and transfer box shafts and gears. If I can find the housings or aluminium replacements I might get them as well although the stock ones should be ok.

I was told (by a reputable source) yesterday that HPI has found a buyer and made a deal. I was told the buyer is not Horizon, but I haven't had a chance to dig in and research the who/what/when/where/how/why etc..

I'll post back if I can find anything official..

Fingers crossed that's more than just a rumor.

Thanks for the tip @QuesoDelDiablo

I haven't been able to confirm or deny anything more yet. I think I'll call up the guy who mentioned it to me and pry for more details though. I'll update with anything I find, but I don't expect I'll find much..

That would be good news, especially if they shave off models that aren’t generating revenue, and at least keep (and grow) the Venture line. I still have mine and will continue to hold onto it, because it is simply reliable and stout! Ordering some Powershift LEDs for the stock body right now.

Well I pried my contact for more info but he's being pretty tight-lipped. All he'll say is that there is a buyer for HPI and parts will soon start flowing again.

I'm hopeful, but I won't believe it till I see it..

HPI has a new owner, not dead yet.
