Default U/d for the venture?

Is there anybody making under drive for the venture? Are they all a standard fit?

The Ventures ring/pinion geometry is not interchangeable with any other brands. You'd have to custom install a transfer case with od/ud built into it.

I can't remember what he his name was but there's (at least) one guy that achieved overdrive to the front axle but flipping the T-Case upside down.

I just don't understand why you can't just change the gears in the diff?

Short answer - because no one makes gears that would fit. Every company has their own unique diff/gear geometry and no one has made gears specific for the Venture.

Luck for us the Venture has a divorced transfer case so UD/OD is possible with a different transfer case (like what Deadloc has done). I just designed a transfer case for the Trail king (making it more compact and a left drop) and now I feel like I might have the ability to come up with something for the Venture.

Hmmm... I'll have to tear down my t-case to see what I can do with it. I think I'll be able to re-use the shafts and 2 of the gears so I'll just need to look out for other gears that are a good fit. I'm still not great at calculating overdrive ratios so if anyone has recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it.

I was doing a little research and now I see (or i'm reminded rather) that the front and rear outputs on the stock T case share the same gear so I'll need to come up with a way to split them up.

I was thinking it would be as simple as getting some of the stock t-case gears and reconfiguring them but theres a little more to it.

If I do come up with something it would be a 3D printed case and I'd most likely just share the files and list the parts required.

Please come up with a new t-case housing. Additional gear reduction with and od/ud option would be the hot ticket.

So I've just read on Facebook that flipping the transfer box gives overdrive to the front, can anybody confirm this?

I heard that as well, just tested and yes it does overdrive the front. Thanks for the reminder.
you will need to grind a bit off the end of the new output shaft for the front so that the driveshaft can attach, probably 1mm or so.

Now I'm gonna see if I can design a new case to accomplish this using the stock guts.

Flipping the transfer case will give you 50% overdrive to the front, this is the same amount that TF2 guys use for C1 competition. If you go the the route of flipping the transfer case, you will need to re-gear the transmission. Basically you will need a smaller pinion on the motor and a larger spur gear on the trans. If you don't re-gear you will fry your motor.

Thanks I'm no good a gear ratio calculations.

The unfortunate thing is gearing down is not really easy, there is no space to run a larger spur in the housing (also there are no larger spurs available) and gearing down with the pinion is limited though I do have a new motor mount that allows a little more gear down.

Yeah it basically removes any gearing down that the T-case used to do and its 1:1 from the tranny to the rear axle and for the front it gears up.

Dang, the terrible Venture gearing strikes again!

True, I actually ran one on my Venture early on. I'm still not sure I want 50% overdrive though.

I'm gonna try to mess around with this gear generator to see what I can come up with, looks like a handy little tool (first I've seen of it so I dont know much yet)
This is setup as the stock T-case (tooth count only)
