Thumbs down Where did 6915 go? (15t pinion gear)

I tried looking for this part number at Tower Hobbies and they don't even show it out of stock (it is just plain gone), when I search HPI, they show it out of stock.

Is there something else that everyone is using for a pinion gear? The HPI stage 1 uses the 48P 96T spur gear (#6996), and I was able to find that one ok.

Is there another gear combo that is appropriate for crawling?

Thanks!

Yeah...just use another one. Any 15t 48 pitch pinion that fits an 1/8" shaft will work...doesn't have to be that exact part number.

Tower Sux! The discontinue stuff way too often, but they dont ever have it in their clearance section. It just seems to disapear. I bet the employees have one hell of a stock of RCs at home.

48P gears are easy enough to find anywhere

My LHS said the pinion was discontinued. Also, I've heard issues about the cover fitting over the 96t spur, so I decided to order a 93t and it was discontinued as well.

...and I thought HPI only discontinued parts for the Savage every six months. :-P

But yeah, 15t, 48p pinions are plentiful in nature.

Just bought some gears today and of course they didnt have what I needed. So I went 13 Pinion and a 90 Spur. Will this be ok to run?

I dont think the gears will mesh well with 13/90. (90 is the stock size btw) I run 14/96 and i cant get them to mesh as tight as I'de like.

Yeah I had trouble getting 13/96 to mesh well, it worked but it was really loud, which lead me to believe it would eventually strip the spur. I ended up with 18/96. That is a good gearing for me, running a rooster crawler 55t combo. After playing with this awhile, I think 13/96 would have been way too low anyway, because wheelspeed at 18/96 is about right. That depends on your motor and how you drive it of course.
