Default Wk Cvd ?

This is probably an easy question but I couldn't find an answer when I searched.

I got a new set of Wheely King MIP CVDs for someone with 3 grub screws and he told me lost the fourth. I tried installing all 2 screws for each pin but the collar isn't threaded all the way so I can only puy one in. I've read that tlt cvds only have 2 but I also read that guys have all four in their Wheely Kings.

Are these supposed to have all four in or are guys tapping the collar to put them in?

They are only supposed to have 2. We put an extra set screw in the kit because they are so small and easy to lose.

Thanks Rockpiledriver,

I guess it's a good idea since it hasn't even been installed and one got lost already.

Use some blue locktite. They like to fall out.

Yes they do. The pins also like to fall out (just in general), so it's a good idea to put heatshrink around the whole cup that the pin goes into (so the pin physically cannot slide out).

Another good idea for this or any CVD is to use your dremel and put a small notch in the cross pin where the set screw contacts it. Not much, just enough for the set screw to sit in there. That way if the screw backs out slightly under stress, the pin can't fall out since it is now retained. I know a bunch of people have had great success with this mod.

Hmmm, I remember seeing this same reply back in November.. heh

Hawmnt: As Rockpiledriver mentioned, notch the pin only slightly, you dont have to go deep to retain it. You can also put some "shoe goo / amazing goop" on the set screw to hold it in there as well.

If you take a lookie on HPI's webpage, there is a "how-to" on there as well.

Thanks Guys, I read a few of those suggestions when reasearching this but that's the first time I heard about notching the pin, great idea. I looked in the " tricks, tips" thread in General Crawlers and didn't see anything about CVDs. Rockpiledriver, maybe you should add it in there since so many guys are running CVDs. I'd add it but I don't want to take credit for ideas that aren't mine. If it is already stickied someplace (probably is), forgive my noobness.
