Default Skid For WK

Hi Guys
I`ve been using my WK crawler for a week now and im loving it,
Only problem with it is the bottom of the chassis hooks up on the rocks not to much of a problem except its quite rapidly grinding through the chassis

So i think i need a lower skid does anyone have one fitted??
If so any piccies or plans would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Adrian

I went through two different setups...

First:

Second (and much improved):

With the second one I just slide right over everything.

I went the quick-n-dirty route with mine:

I just ued some very thin aluminum (.040 I think) and used a spare chassis plate to locate the holes. I used a punch and hammer on wood to make the holes. Just pop the holes, bend the metal, and use the screws that hold the suspension and trans mounts to hold the skid in place. I used a small ball peen hammer to bend the leading and trailing edges up so they won't snag.

The aluminum is thin enough to show trail damage, which I personally think is cool.

Here's a picture of my old chassis with a skid plate made out of a piece of Meccano:

I'm now running a Widow chassis and you can't beat that slippery cutting board belly!!

The front skid plate (aluminum and delrin) is long gone as well.

I used a thin scrap piece of plastic from under a Eclipse. Heated it up along the way and it fit real nice and slid instead of skid when done.

Sorry, no pics of that setup. I can check the garage later and see if I saved it in my scrap stuff.

I got tired of snagging everything, but all I had handy was a piece of old metal framing stud. I cut out a piece that was a little too big and then marked it out on the chassis and used my grinder to cut and shape it. Then I just used a small ballpeen to tap it into it's final fit right up against the tranny. It's been working pretty well so far.

i know two of you would like a copy, but if there is any one else, pm me with your email and i will send it off.

I used 19 ga. alum. One because i had it around and two because with the breaks in it it didn't need any more then that.

picture of the first test fit.
