Default widow chassis

well after seeing some of the widow builds i got bit so last night i decided to build one of my own i didnt take pics since there are so many already i did however have to modify the side plate a bit to fit the piece of aluminum i had to work with but while trying to get the suspension setup i did take some video

specs.
aluminum widow side plates
cutting board skid(recycled from my first tube chassis and it was the right size go figure lol)
axial trans
wk axles
wk shocks
revolver wheels (soon to be junfac beadlocks)
losi rock claws(soon to be flat irons)

dont mind the poor excuse for a rock pile as i am collecting right now to add to it and it was all done with a hacksaw and files lmao i dont have a full arsenal of power tools lol

I think you need to be running a heavier shock or oil in the front. Have a look at 3:46 to 3:42 - your front shocks are unloaded even before you reach the top of the rock. When they unload, your chassis and all its weight start to rise up and your CoG goes with it. Your shocks should be almost totally compressed at this point. They really should only extend when your wheels are trying to reach down to the ground for traction.

Otherwise, everything looks good.

(I have an aluminum widow chassis as well and I really like it! - beats the heck out of that stock POS)

im still trying to sort out the bugs those are the rear shocks i was reversing over the rocks at that point they are half droop i have the springs on top of the shock inside and they are upsidedown so the dont limit the extension of the shock just the compression inm going to add some springs under the shock as well kind of dual rate but inside the shock body but i think for its maiden voyage it looks ok i finished getting it together just before i took the vid still some work to do and thanks for the coments they are appreciated as i am still learning and do you think i should go 50/50 or keep it as it is about 60/40

Depends on the body style and shape. With my bug body, I could have run a single vertical post off of the upper chassis braces...one front, one rear...but I ended up going out the sides. Some people don't like using side mounts because they think it will scrape on rocks and stop forward momentum but, I have yet to see it become an issue. My mounts are over an inch above the bottom most edge of the body's side rocker, so maybe that keeps them out of harms way a bit more.

Here are a couple pics of how I did mine.

I made mine from either 1/4" polycarbonate or acrylic rod (sorry can't remember which one it is). They run all the way through the chassis and are held in place with lock collars. Because they are one piece they are quite strong and have not broke one yet!

Yup, mine's a 50/50. Never had any of my rigs set up in a 60/40, so I wouldn't know if the 50/50 was necessarily "better" or not.
