Default Predator V2

After beating on the Predator prototype for about a month I decided I wanted to be the first 1 to run a production chassis (it is my design after all). So, out came the powder coating gun. The chassis got sprayed with red powder and Predator V1 got ripped apart. All I have kept from the prototype is, Axles, servos and motor. Currently it is shoed with the Losi Zombie Maxx's but, Losi Claw MT's and revolver rims are on the way.

Predator chassis (narrow Production version)
r2 (until I can order an r2d)
Maxx DS
3/4" wideners
dual HS 645MG
Mamba Maxx esc (currently not installed)
Losi Claw MT (on order)
RPM Revolver (Stable Maxx offset)
Dubro 6-32 rod ends
Steel links
Wk Shocks
over 15" WB (keeping exact setup secret )

Little High in this shot

Turned the trans for lower CG

Tight fit... the Narrow version of the chassis is ment to just be rule legal. Therefore an r2 or r2d barely fits

Wow...this angle makes the front end look bent

The WK shocks work ok but I think im going to upgrade the rears to Traxxas Big Bore.

Your sig mentions it's 2.2 or Super class...

I'm interested how it looks with a 2.2 setup hung on it, any chances of a 2.2 demo?

Also, and this is a bit daft, do you think it'd stand up to mounting the rear upper links to the tail that sticks out the back? It'd certainly look individual

You could mount the upper links there but, I wouldnt just for proper geometry. I do plan to mount a set of Maxx Big Bores farther back on the dove tail.
I hadnt planned on a 2.2 build but, once I am done with this truck I will build a 2.2 version with a WK transmission.

Wb is now around 16"
Losi Claw Mt added

You can see a little rock rash already... I need to get on building a hood and roof so I can be legal. The axles were a pain to get shimmed corretly, I almost gave up on them.

They arent as steep as they look but, Im going to change them out for a shorter shock and run them almost verticle.

wouldnt it be better if the back shock were pretty much vertical and the fronts angled back?

Its a matter of personal prefference... Right now I can go 90* of articulation, way too much for me. I think even with shorter shocks up front in more of an upright config I will still get 75+ and will have allot more control. The nice thing on this chassis. if you want to move the shocks you just grab a drill, there is plenty of room to adjust. I hope to have the details worked out this weekend and get a video of it in action.

been a while since I updated this thread...

Upgraded to 6ch radio which really brought the truck to life....

Wk gears kept stripping out so I talked to ThunderVP (aka Thundertech racing) and he suggested e-savage gears as they are less than half the price of Hardened WK gears and easier to get. They use them in pulling trucks so I figured they would hold... well after a little frustration installing them I found out your supposed to grind the ridge off the top of the pinion (that makes things allot easier) Havent stripped a rear gear since but I have thrown the DS's a few times. Basically it needs Punishers but, my club is eliminating superclass after this year so Ill be selling the rig and my remaining predators'.

1st place in SCRC summer series superclass points

that's cool to hear that the WK axles can handle that. i have a feeling with the hardened gears since they are fairly similar axial axles should work well too.
