ok I'm on a low budget, so I'm going to get the r2 disconnect, and the x-trail chassis. would the wk axle do alright with the chassis? I was thinking on getting the skid plate that moves the links on the inside but with the width of the axle would that work? so should I get the regular skid plate that leaves the links on the outside, or could I get it to work with them on the inside? what the opinion?

There shouldn't be any issues with using those axles and chassis. I'm running the MFM long chassis (which is more narrow than the X-Trail) with WK axles, and the only thing that might be a problem is if the rod ends won't pivot enough (side to side) to allow the links to move freely due to the angle. There are several ways to mount the links at the axles, as far as running them more inboard or out. If the rod ends allow for the angle, you should get good triangulation depending on where and how you mount the links. Hope that helped. T.D.

I've only used Traxxas and RC4WD rodends, so I can't say for sure if there are better units out there, someone else might be able to shed some light on that question. I know the RC4WD ones are really nice and solid, but don't allow alot of pivot...from my experience anyway. Someone else wanna jump in here? T.D.

Conical washers and spacers will come in handy whatever you decide to use. It may take some tweaking to get it just right, I've been fiddling with the links on my tuber for awhile myself. T.D.

The ax10 has angled rod ends that would work, they are for the upper link that mounts at the frame
