Default My Wheely King SPV2 Build

I have had my Wheely King for about a month or so now, and the stock chassis absolutely sucks in my opinion. I ordered an SPV2 chassis made by Fastlane Machining from RC-Monster.com . My build pics are below. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Patience my friend. not everyone has the luxury of being able to get on the net in the middle of the day.

That thing looks pretty sweet, especially that last pic.

Yea I'm a little on the "impatient side" lol

Thanks for the comments. I was looking into another rig when the thought crossed my mind that the Wheely King as a "real" crawler was a lost cause. That was until I got this chassis. I'm planning on putting an R2D trans in it soon but I just spent a crap load of money on this rig between tires/wheels/the chassis and almost 80 bucks in hardware. This thing should rock when its all done. Hope to get into a few comps in MD.

could you tell me what you are going to do with the 2 triangle shaped pieces on the front shock mounts? when i put my extension kit on, i used them to make it 4 link. by the way, that chassis is just awesome!

The two pieces mounted on the axle that you are talking about, well I got creative and was using them to support a tray for my battery. However, once I put the servo on the axle, then the batter on top, it seemed like a lot of junk on the axle in my opinion. So what I did was cut a piece of aluminum i got from home depot and mounted my servo to it.. Like so:

I am very pleased with how my build turned out, especially for having those big bulky axles from the WK.

I also moved my lower links in as well and added internal springs in my shocks and I'm using 80 weight oil. It has literally NO torque twist at all.

I actually like the Road Warrior look this chassis has. Might try my E-maxx build with this and if it doesn’t work out, I can always use this chassis on my Wheely King. Fantastic build!!!

Default Lower Links Moved In

Nice build just ordered this chassis better looking than the tuber I am running. My question was what are those silver spacers you used to attach your lower links to when you moved then in? Thanks man again nice build cant wait to get mine this week and rebuild mine.

Thanks,
Trex

The aluminum spacers I used for the lower links I got from Hobbytown in a 50% off bin. I'm at work right now and cant remember what theyre from..I want to say theyre from an RS4. Once I get home I can get you a part number for them. I think the full retail price was like 10 bucks or so and 4 come in a pack. They use 3mm screws also. If i forget to post the part number shoot me a pm this evening.

Ok, I got the part number for you:

Its an HPI part "HPIA155" Aluminum Joint 8x30MM for the RS4

I can only seem to find them on ebay, you may be able to have your local hobby shop order them from HPI, and I'm pretty sure I used 3MM screws.

Default Lower Links

Thanks did you say that they took out the torque twist? Also how do they hold up do the links move or do they come loose at all was just curious if you get any unwanted movement from them. Did you use lock tight or anything to keep them together? Thanks again for your help.

Thanks,

Trex

Actually I just used them to move my links in towards the center of the chassis, moving the links in along with changing the upper link positions and adding heavier weight shock oil (80 weight) and internal springs eliminated 99% of the twist. I'll only get twist now if my front end is up and my rear wheels get bound up. Surprisingly they are very strong and dont move. I havent used lock tight yet but I'm planning on doing so. Its been running fine without it and nothing has came loose. They dont really flex at all. I mean I'm sure if you pushed really hard on them they would, but I've been running it for a while like this and I havent had any problems...

Thanks Creepy & Chris..... I'm not going to run a body on this one. I'm going to butcher a lexan body and make some panels...thats about it...
