Broke an axle....who makes stronger ones?

As the title says.... thanks..

thehopping1 04-20-2009 12:15 AM

Well, RC4WD has some stainless ones, and rcp has the cvd's which I think are the better of the two.

BrentH 04-20-2009 06:36 AM

Cool thanks, I think I'll go with the MIP's.

HAAS599 04-20-2009 08:12 AM

Been looking for a stronger axle myself. Can you post a link to the axle your getting?

BrentH 04-20-2009 08:22 AM

Here are the MIP's I'm gonna get.

Frankenwheely 04-20-2009 11:14 AM

 You broke a WK axle?

BrentH 04-20-2009 11:16 AM

Yep sure did...I was surprised when it broke too...

evileddy420 04-20-2009 11:18 AM

I think the stock axles are stronger than the cvds. I break them, but only when I get really stupid when driving.

smokinubyrc 04-20-2009 11:18 AM

i run rcp mip cvds front and rear in my wk

and have had them so bound up i pulled a panther bead off my bead locks before the cvd let go.

Cool, thats what I'm gonna end up doing...going to order some MIP's - now my drive shafts will snap or my trans will spit gears out of the side... :badger:

So this will eliminate the C-cup with the dogbone? Sorry is thats the wrong term.

I broke the axleshaft and the c-cup, so I am looking for a replacement/upgrade also.

Yes it will. I think they allow for more throw in your steering too.

HAAS599 04-20-2009 01:53 PM

I like that it gives you more throw in the steering.

With the MIP's installed on the front, how much more steering do you get and what limits the steering from going even farther with these on?

chongdigga 04-20-2009 03:08 PM

this is a helpful thread. I ordered the cvds from mip today and from what I hear it should be a one time upgrade. I counted my pile of broken dogbones today (dont know y i keep em i just do) 6 stock and 4 stainless ones. i think it is about time to spend the $35

If anybody breaks one then post up and tell us how when why

TOMS97ZJ 04-20-2009 03:21 PM

Sounds good, I am going to order a set soon...

BrentH 04-20-2009 03:47 PM

you know what sucks is that I have a brand new set of cvd's for my savage that I DONT USE ANYMORE...wish the fit....

It's actually surprisingly easy...let my new gf drive my truck for 5 minutes she broke 3 of them before i could turn around and stop her

smokinubyrc 04-20-2009 04:32 PM

here is my front axle set up
used tlt servo mounts and some L brackets to mount it to the axle and i did a slight bend in it to clear the pumkin
can get a bit more if i grind down the knuckles but i have all i want with the dig!

BJoe 04-22-2009 10:58 PM

Geez, must bee too easy on mine, I have yet to break even one in almost two years of ownership, and I'm running lockers front and rear and a 55t Integy with a 9.6v park flier pack and Trinity P94 style endbell and brushes!
