Thanks for sharing the motor bracket pictures. I am amazed at the things that can be done on that software as well...I think I might just have to take that class.... JB Here's a pic or two of my WK project. Homemade brazed aluminum frame and roll-cage http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/fo...69/Rm36376.jpg http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/fo...69/Bu58716.jpg |
thats definatly a cool build! i woudl say take the course. i'm a firm beleiver in education....my typing my not reflect that...hahaha. i type faster then i can think and i dont' care to correct it after. solidworks is a VERY versitile program i use it for just abotu everything. FYI i'm cuttign the first prototype chassis otu of 1/8" Delrin right now. can't wait to hold it in my hands. |
I can't wait to see you holding it in your hands:)...I am excited for you. I milled out a bumper in lab yesterday that should have been cut 3 weeks ago. I was all smiles though after I turned it over and over a hundred times in my hand to get a look at all the pretty angles. There's a few more touches to ad to it next lab but I can post a pic later. The class is SurfCam, I hope it translates as well for me as SolidWorks does for you. In layman's terms, what is the process to model an axle like you did? Punch measurements in with coordinates? I am blown away! I might have to track myself down some software to start messing with. Post those pics ASAP!!! lol JB |
Solid works works of of sketches. You make a 2 d sketch then you have extruding tools. To either extrude a solid, or cut away form a solid. Then you can get into sweeps. Where you sketch gets extruded to follow a path of another sketch. Or revolve. Were it extrudes around an axis to make a round object. Then fillets and chamfers. That is the most basic of basic explanation. You can do SOOOOO much more but I’m not explaining it. Once you get the CAD concept its fast and easy. |
you doing more work on it today |
hmm probably not. i'm goign tou of town For 2 weeks for work on monday and i need to get some shit taken care fo aroudn here. who knows perhaps i will cut the skid plate tomorrow. We'll see. when i'm out of town i will have TONS of tim ein the evenign to design up the rest of the shit. suspension mounting plates. rear lock outs. steering. perhaps BTA |

That sure is a Buzz-Kill.....:-( Ah well, I am glued to this one anyway. JB |
sweet chassis! looking forward to the build..i like how your moved the tranny and motor up more towards the front... |
i'm in a hotel room in San Diego...not building anything... i still need my tranny to show up too. i'm getting anxiouse. |
Is your tranny showin up this week or be there when u get back |
i dunno i pay;d the guy onhere and herd nothign if it shipped. perhaps i'm to trusting. |
if its coming from the states it will prob take about 2 weeks if its just mailed |
just found out it is comming from canada. so in good. |
oh nice thats good news"thumbsup" |
If your planning on producing these id be a tester if you would like. |
right now i'm not planning on producing these. not unless its worth the money to get a star. we'll see. but if i do i'll let you know!! i'll be back hom this weekend. and i think my tranny arived while i was out so i should be able to get the chassis together ASAP. |
Did you get this idea from Don at DNA or??? I like the looks of your chassis a bit more than his but I can see the resemblance. I Just started drawing up a scale chassis for my WK that will work with the lower motor mount(trying my hand at emachineshop). I have a Helicopter main gear mounted to my Tranny at the moment(140T I think) but I will have to get rid of that if I want to build up a scale interior, it's totally in the way! Would be a killer low-speed crawler with it I think... That or move the tranny way forward to clear everything. Get home already so we can see this thing finished. JB |
