If it is worth the money, do you use the stock pinion ?
Thanks,
Raz

It mounts between the motor and the pinion gear, poke around I'm sure someone has a phot up of one mounted.

I loved mine when I was using the stock transmision, I've seen scale builds using just this unit feeding a transfer case.

As far as the money...I do beleive it's the cheapest unit on the market like this, it has full bearings, and steel internals what more could you ask for for $20?

Depends on what you are building, it also adds more weight on top. Might do more harm than good when you can get a high turn motor for the same price. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNPD9&P=7

I tested a 55t & 85t motor against a stock 27t with the reduction gear. It does add more weight to the top, but the 27t & reduction gear combo gave the best torque of all. If you are building a crawler/mudder/basher then the truck will be too slow using the reduction gear. If you are building a truck solely for crawling then the reduction gear is your best choice.

If you are using the stock WK ESC, the gears will act as your drag brake.

it will also make your truck noisier

I run one in my CC-01. At first I didn't put it together right, and there were some friction issues and it got really hot after driving it for just a little bit. I put it together the right way, with generous lube, and it works great. Maybe too great. It gears the motor down enough in that thing to easily disintegrate any gear in the transmission or rear axle. It works great, and I don't know what its like on the HPI. Its definately a big change though. You use the stock pinion coming out of the gear reduction unit, and you put a special included pinion on the motor that goes into the gears of the reduction unit. For $25, its not a bad idea to try it out. If you like speed though, it may not be for you.
