If your running a 90t spur i would start with a 15 or 16 t pinion. Anything smaller your going to have mesh problems. ( You will have to start trimming tranny)

Couldnt find my pinion box... I think its at the bottom of my spare parts box, what a mess!

So slapped in the stock pinion, 26t, seems not bad, can crawl up a wall

I used an 18t with my 90t spur for a bit. Good speed and good torque. Then got the 96t spur and a 16t pinion with my 55T Integy. That combo works best for me on 3s Lipo.

I would try 18t or 16t (sorta in the middle) with stock spur as a starting point. Then from there you could go either up or down to suit your driving style.

If the gears don't mesh properly you could buy the 96t spur gear from HPI which also in turn will give you more torque over stock spur. Do this if you don't want to trim the tranny.
