Default New WK owner

So I joined the WK club, after looking over the chassis in person I can see how these can be turned into very capable Crawlers. Here's the body I wanna use I need the lengthen the rear and front links to get it to fit the body. So here's the pics

I actually think I may make it a crawler so far I have 3 scalers, 1 mini Sand rail, 1 1 off corr truck, and 1 Dura Trax Cliff Climber.

I started with a WK. I found the belly to be way to low and hangs on "everything". You'll have to drill the transmission gear and put 4 small screws in it to lock the "clicker". After that the trans is great, Super Duty, and the axles are super Duty too. I ended up building a scaler with a K2-5 chassis, WK reduction gear box and laying the WK trans sideways like a tranfercase.

I have been working with the wheely king since 2007, and I am still rebuilding it and tweeking it. Feel free to take a look at my build thread, and ask any questions, I'll see if I can help.

There is an easier way. to fix this. The shaft coming off the Spur gear has a small gear in the tranny on it with a spacer behind it. There is a pin that inengages that small gear. Swap the spacer and gear positions. Then mark where you need a new hole for that pin. YOu are now driving the other side of the slipper. No pics but look at one of the stickys and you can see what I'm talking about.

Talking A belly tuck and a diet

Well I got servilely bored today and wanted to freshen up the WK. After staring at the chassis for about 10 minutes I came up with a way to move the trans upward and be able to cut off that lower section of the frame that hangs on EVERYTHING!! After doing that I made up my BTA steering and I'm very pleased with that mod. I also took the battery box took the top off flipped it up side down "tossed the other half" and moved it towards the middle of the chassis for a better weight distribution. After doing the mod to the chassis and re doing my 4 links I now have 4 inches of belly clearance WOOHOO!!!!!
All of the mods used stock screw holes and mounting points only major mod to the chassis was cutting the belly off. Now on with the pics

Next to come will be some new action shots, my goal is to keep the stock frame and just modify it to make it better

Figured I'd :update: this thread

New/Used Mods:

Scale looking Chassis
Changed to some old Gold Shocks. I lost alot of flex but oh well going for scale look. If I want the flex back just have to swap to the old WK shocks :nice:
Took out Screwed up motor
Took out broken Servo
Hacked off bed to make tube back half
Made Scale whip antennae
Black box I found in my closet to hold my electronics mounted behind cab
Finally used the set of 2.2 beadlocks I got awhile back
Future plans when funds permit are make a tube backhalf, make a decent front bumper, new motor, new servo, make a back for the cab out of styrene, Mount servo to frame, 3 link the font, probably go back to 1.9 tire, might go to Axial Axles just need a rear, and wipe the dust off of it and start using it again
Ok on with the pics let me know what you guys think.

Hi,
I am very interested in the fact that you cut the lower part of the chassis and placed everything up. I can see some pictures of it but not much detail ... I would like to do the same thing could you please post some more detailed pictures if you have them... Also was anything afected by this change?
