As with everyone's vehicles, my WK has been through 3 different phases in my ownership of it. Stock, extended with tires: ![]() Trophy Truck: ![]() And now my X Trail build: ![]() I started out with TCS's X Trail chassis and hardware kit: ![]() Added some assembly, Traxxas shocks, Losi springs and we had: ![]() Fabbed up a front shaft, went wheeling. It sucked. Open diffs, sat too high, battery too far forward, etc. I then set the truck up for droop, but the 55 turn and my terrain called for some uptravel. So I trimmed the springs that come in the hardware kit, and dropped em inside the shocks. Seems to be about right. Built a spare tire carrier this afternoon (which is too low) and have been tinkered all week. I moved the battery back and made lil Lexan reinforcement straps for the box. Now for the parts list. Stuff on the way includes: Front drive components HPI Bronco body Airtronics crystals Electro luminesent wire Paint Lockers and more bits I cant recalle Running gear: 55t Integy 645mg Servo Shim locked Stampede trans (steel outdrives) Cutting board tranny plate, receiver plate Airtronics MX3 (the Hitec AM is just temporary) The receiver will be mounted on the rear, where the pink tube is Dynamite Tazer 12t ESC Future plans include: 4 forward facing white LEDs 2 rock lights The electroluminesent wire acting as "underglow" Red LED tail lights Accessories, like a tow strap (thinking of a way to make my GD600 a winch) Front bumper Tow package I am not sure how to do it, but I would love to utilize the 3rd channel to control the front drive engagment. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated. The basic idea of the truck is just a runner. Its not going to win any comps, any shows, or any awards. I just really enjoy having a solid axle truck in my arsenal. I plan on using it to pull my yet-to-be built trailer. I wanted something that looked better and performed better than the stock WK chassis. Low clearance, high center of gravity made that chassis a bust. It will have a somewhat scale appearance, but nothin like excessivefire's rigs, or any other competent builder.

Looks good. Interesting trophy truck setup too. As far as selectable 4x4, I would go with a drive shaft dig, without the dig part. Here's a write up on it. homemade driveshaft dig build with pics and vids

The TT was a losi buggy, hacked up. WK side plates hacked up, Stampede trans and shafts. It was ok, but turned out not to be my thing. Thanks for the link.

I wish I could edit my title :( But the Tower order came in, so the Bronco body has been cut, and slightly trimmed to eliminate rub. Of course I need to re do the spare, but I anticipated that. The front drive shaft is now in, and functional. Now, we need pics right? I will post some tomorrow. Its bed time, just doing a small update while the thoughts are fresh in my mind. lol Next are lights, paint, hitch, spare, front end lock, minor adjustments and to bash the hell out of it. Still gotta figure that front thing out. I have tons of parts, and would like a micro high torque servo for the actuation too. Ideas are streaming. We will see what happens with it. Again, pics tomorrow.
