Cool Wheely king Trail/Scale-ish Rig

I took the plunge to try to make my Wheely King a little more scale looking, and also capable of putting a body with a 11-12 inch wheelbase on it( 9.5 is a little too short IMO). In the pics I am using wood for side plates, but I am planning on using aluminum. Also the electronics are mocked up in the intended place. On to the pics.
I still need to get some parts like, Traxxas driveshafts, Rad Shack project box for the electronics, and I am planning on getting a Proline '70 Ford F-100. Comments and Suggestions welcome. Oh and one more thing I am using all stock w/k driveline, and links and shock mounts, shock, etc. etc. yada yada I think you get the point

oh yea and if your going scale, you might want to extend the chassis in the front and back so you can put some king of scale bumper on it, Maybe a winch!!

I like it. I'm not liking the design of the chassis, but I see potential. Although I don't own a Wheely King, I can agree that they do look better extended. I extended my Stampede by roughly 2 inches, and it looks incredible and handles better.

I think the chassis design is fine. Only thing I see is the angle of your lower links is a little high.

I agree on the lower links. Maybe some shorter shocks would do the trick.

The angle of those lower is ok, but the pics make them look extremely steep, I also got a few thing coming together, like Traxxas shafts, Axial Trail ready body, and new waterproof esc, Hoping the body comes in sometime next week. Hopefully get pics up then Thanx for the nice compliments

Well i ordered the body yesterday, and I am currently trying to track down 1/8th inch aluminum plate for the side plates, got my servo mount made now I just need hardware for that. I also got my project box from Rad. Shack for my transmitter. Now it is playing the waiting game for everything to come in. Thanx for the nice comments. And yes it is a woody....for now

Looks good.

Tractor Supply has that aluminum plate, the one where I live does anyway.
Otherwise check at a fab or machine shop

Well i had a few roadblocks like not being able to find the right screws and such, but that is fixed now, and I am just about to make move under its own power, with the exception of no body and the chassis is still wood cuz i can't find aluminum. The steering linkage was the most fun on this.. I will hopefully be able to finalize the setup by this afternoon No new picture updates, sorry, but until I get the body it all looks the same

Talking It lives!!!!!!!!!

i was able to get everything hooked up and going today, I will need to do a little weight tuning, and wait for the body, but this chassis is AWESOME I am very happy with how it performs...(even in 2wd which is all I have right now)....it crawls very nicely and has great articulation. I will get some pics up later. For now I have to stick with wood for the chassis until I find aluminum, but hey you do what you have to

BTW, what kind of wood is that? I want to look for a small piece of something similar at this Saturday so I can work on a custom chassis for my own WK before tearing up aluminum trying to get the chassis just right. I know my local Home Depot sells small 2x2 pieces of various wood but I know some lends itself better to small detail cutting than others. Kind of like you, Id like to use as much of the existing WK as possible to keep it on budget.
