Default Clicking noise...

I am getting a clicking noise when it gets under stress. I am trying to locate it and it seems to be the plastic gear?

The clicking rarely happens when I drive in reverse...

Any ideas? Thanks!

It is the center gear. It works as a slipper gear. It seems that it only gets worse once it starts.

What do you recommend replacing it with? Part number please?

http://store.rc4wd.com/Hardened-Stee...ng_p_1416.html if they ever come back in stock. I hear the aluminum gears don't last nearly as long.

Look at the 2 trans threads in the stickys above to see the slipper gear and methods of locking it up. If you do lock up the slip gear, the next thing will be the 15T gear will strip, hence the suggestion to move to metal gears.

at least do the slipper clutch mod, and get the AL gears. The steel may last longer, but the question is really, by how much (not just based on a few peoples experiences). Remember too, "the weakest link" issue. Make the trans too string, and you take of the driveline.

Entropy has a point. Sometimes it is a question of what you want the weak point to be. Something will eventually break. It is the nature of the hobby.

I verified that it is the spur gear. Should I get a 90T, 93T, or 96T spur gear. I already have the gear reduction on it if it matters. Thanks!

I didn't even bother with trying to keep the stock tranny, it started clicking before I even finish making it in to a crawler. I just dished out the same money for the ax-10 tranny as I would have for all the upgraded gears. Just my .02 cents

So which do you recommend for my setup?

90T, 93T, or 96T spur gear

I'm running a 90t on mine with a 14t pinion. That's being powered by a reedy 3300kv motor.
